2020 1st/ 2yr service rapido ducatto

Our first service 8,000 miles 2years old the dealer said oil change not needed as low miles and Ducato do have oil degradation check on board,
This was a Fiat Professional garage.

My understanding is that if a Fiat van is purchased in the UK then the warranty is 3 years provided it has been serviced in accordance with Fiat policy.
Which is why the OP said "Main guarantee 2yrs (french made not uk 3yr)".

But it's a software algorithm. It doesn't carry out a chemical examination of the oil. It guestimates the condition of the oil based on recorded drive cycles, ambient temperature, number and type of DPF regen cycles etc. But it can't account for the effect of a van being sat undriven for extended periods, which also has a detrimental affect on engine oil.

Iveco say, in respect of the same 2.3 mulijet engines, that the oil should be changed annually if annual mileage is less than 12,500 miles, and should be changed before starting the engine if the vehicle hasn't been driven for 3 months. Yet their "headline" oil change interval is now over 36,000 miles.

Well the dealers should have just changed the oil and filter as I asked them to.
Same old if you want anything doing DIY ?☹️

Fiat dealers seem to have a history of spinning yarns if they don't want to do a job or think there's not enough profit in it for them!

I have just got off the phone with Fiat customer care and they say the oil is ok and in accordance with their service schedule
I have know ordered a filter and oil and will just change it for piece of mind.

Check your handbook, it has the service schedule printed in it. Oil changes for Euro 6 are as notified by the instrument cluster message, but in any case must not exceed 2 years, so how can they say at 2 years old it's not due an oil change

In respect of motorhomes it depends where the converter purchased the base machine, not where the ultimate user purchased the motorhome. The basic Fiat Ducato warranty is 2 years, and that is what most of the European converters apply because they buy them from outside the UK. But UK converters (that use Fiat) purchase them via Fiat (UK), and as part of the deal Fiat (UK) top it up with a 3rd year.

Thanks for clarifying that , another advantage of buying from a British converter IH in my case.

Visited our Fiat Pro garage in Elgin, Moray yesterday. Couldn't find our van on the Fiat data base and didn't have a ramp for our 7 mtr van. What a waste of time !!

To be honest the service receptionist did say we can get it serviced anywhere providing it's done to Fiat specs.
