Again I might have done this before, but these hook over the little shelves at the back of the bed (to the side of the doors) and are great for a bottle of water.

Cheaper from Ikea but quicker to find the Amazon link.

Finally replaced front carpets with these. Much easier to keep clean on a long trip with a large dirty dog. They are a bit padded so nice underfoot, but I’m not a carpet person anyway.

Oh, not finally at all. I got this to use as a soap dish. Sticks on the small surface just to the right of the sink. Bung your soap on when dry and it sticks like glue. We just use it in situ for hands, shower has its own soap.

Wow the cup holder and shower caddy brilliant finds and the water hanging tub !!! Shall take those fab ideas for my van too

Hey be great to see what you’ve made with the middle wooden section of the bed... as I sleep side to side I have the 2 (feet bits) I could fashion a tray for as currently use and open cupboard for tea, water etc
 
I’ll take a photo when we’re next in the van as it’s off in storage now, but basically I ordered a custom one of these. Be warned, it’s not cheap, but it does look really good. My van is the 640SGX so we sleep lengthwise, head to the doors. There’s a double bed sized raising bit, and then each side a fixed cushion that doesn’t raise. The shelf is made to fit that, then stick the cup holder on and bingo, a tray each for a proper mug and place to put phone, watch etc.

Does anyone have any ideas how to stop the back doors opening right up mines got caught by a gust of wind and cracked the door window?
 
Hmmm your not alone as I think someone else has this issue recently

You’d think we’d be able to purchase door restrictors .... nothing on line for ducato vans ??

it's not a good idea with the doors opening right up it can happen very easy and it will be a costly window. so just be very careful.
 
That was us. There were a few ideas posted which we’ve not had time to research yet. Replacement window is due end July so it’s a long wait.
 
dealer says it would take about 6 weeks . I was talking to someone with a 17 plate twin and his came with the stays as standard so the must have stopped doing it for some reason

Our Globecar has them too, it's so the step box can be removed in case you want to use the whole of the floor area, the knobs themselves are a bit of a pain so I removed them and used a couple of domed headed bolts instead with some non-slip cupboard mat held in place by them, and on top of that some old yoga mat, we've also got them on the side of the upper step too but I've left them as they are as they don't cause any problems.

I went for the extended bump stop option on the external doors but I think it was Karen Wombles that did the door restraining straps.

If it wasn't Karen then she'll know the Funster that did. :cool:

Not me - ours came with manufacturer fitted restraining bars but very strong wind might overcome them so please post details of your extended bump as may copy you :smiley:

In principle they would save your doors, window perspex and light clusters but if the wind was that strong as to dislodge the door from its mechanical restraining unit then at the very least you should expect the door skin to be damaged and dinted from the impact.

This is just my take on things but I won't be leaving the doors open unless I'm 100% certain that the wind will not affect the doors, otherwise they stay closed.

Also, if you were to place restraining straps at the top of the door frame and then attach them to the door corners then you would have to be sure that the left door didn't close in on itself first, i.e. before the right door closed or else you would cause some serious panel damage to the skin(s) of the left door (from the door lock).

Perhaps the only safe way is to use two detachable metal stay-rods which simply affix to the frame and the doors.

We did a temporary fix on the bike rack door of our Adria twin before we went away as we were concerned about the doors being blown open and smashing the light cluster and window, particularly the first opening door with the bike rack and extra weight.
We bought a fiamma bike block D1, took it apart and screwed it to the the bike rack so when the door opens the head of the block rests against the edge of the van and stops it opening any further. In the picture top right.
Worked very well and was well tested in the strong winds we encountered in Spain.
It’s needs addressing and we hope to find some permanent solution for both doors, wouldn't want to have to replace expensive light clusters.

this stops the doors from going right round excellent just hook on when doors are open and unhook when closing will stop another broken window
