2014 2.3 Cam Belt Change

I'm impressed, not many people can afford to go through The Putin School of Diplomacy these days, you clearly did the masters course.
I could say the same to you, only quoting part of my post and deliberately missing off the emoji funny I put on it. ?

So PhD and Kremlin Gold Star. They even pushed the "smiley gets you out of jail" trick.

I'm not worthy to comment on your posts.

Mr Colpot Forgot to add that ours is an A class and they needed to drop the engine to gain access.

That is absurd. Whoever designed that should be shot.

It's not just the cost, all the extra work means so much more chance of something breaking, seizing or going wrong. Every 4 years.

The Dealer has agreed to have it done before we pick it up. Thanks for all the advice and lessons.

Mr Colpot
I've just uploaded a soft copy of the handbook to the Resources Section here.
You can download it from there, if required.

Nah! never read the handbooks, just ask Lenny HB, he will tell ya, but only once mind, after that he gets impatient you know :D
Rumour has it that he was recently spotted holidaying in the UK!!!, on a Fun Rally no less in Kent,

I bet the Newhaven Ferry saw him drive past and waited for him in the dock, they are still in shock that he drove straight past and didnt get on!:D

Happy travels Lenny.

Just wish they would use chains instead of belts, never had anything to worry about on my range of BMW;s, over the years, and they all came with indicators as standard, but that was about it, everything else was an option:D Bit like Carthago really:cry:

Didn’t some of the big X BM’s have issues with cam chains that are the bulk headvend of the engine?

Not in South Yorkshire and not at Fiat main dealers. Labour is around £50 an hour.

Blimey that’s worth traveling for.
I was quoted £480 to do our Audi A3 as a special deal and the water pump would be an extra £120 ?

Thanks to all the contributors here. After reading this thread contacted Johns Cross and they will be doing mine March 2021 just before we set off for France. Peace of mind comes cheap due to the help here.

Just been quoted £399 by a local moho dealer. Also £199 for an interim service.

Waiting for a Fiat Pro garage to come back to me.

Just had my RAPIDO 7098F serviced. The long service with Cam Belt cost me £966. In answer to your original question 5 yearly. Far better to ere on the side of caution. The cost of a snapped Cam Belt would be enormous.

All best wishes. Paul

Very useful advice for us... as today we are looking at a 2014 with 16,000 miles on the clock and essential this work has been done with bills to prove or needs doing ASAP..(y)(y)
