The best games to play whilst away ,they aren't board games but you can play on you motorhome table.Keeps the gray matter engaged.Rumnikub and triominoes are our 2 games of choice.
An element of skill involved when I win and element of luck if wife wins.
Results are fairly even apart from last night when luck and skill evaded me
Qwirkle. Check it outApologies if this is in the wrong thread. I'm looking for any recommendations for a good, fun, not too complicated board game that works with just 2 players? We're off on a 3-4 week trip next week and it would be good to have a game of some kind to occasionally play instead of watching tv or reading, particularly after dark.
If anyone has a game that they like to play or can recommend something they think would be appropriate then I'm all ears.
Wow!!Good Morning!
This is a great topic for us as we love board games!
Ever present are Scrabble and Backgammon, others are rotated trip by trip.
They need to be compact, reasonably short play time per game ( I’d say 20-40 minutes) a bit of thinking/ tactical action involved.
We have quite a few of those already mentioned and now there’s a few to look into for the future!
My recommendations…
Cartographer .. it just seems to fit nicely with the motorhome travelling ethos. It’s about drawing maps on a grid and scoring points within that. It has artistic qualities too.
Patchwork… make a patchwork quilt from assorted “pieces” of cloth. Seems simple at first but very strategic.
Phase Ten.. quite new to this card game but I can see it becoming a favourite, small enough to slip in.
I’m always looking in charity shops for small table top games, often just £1-£2 gets you a decent one, but also risky if too many components that may have some missing.
We have far too many games… it’s a bit of an addiction!

You need to persist with the cards, i had never played cribbage until I met my wife, but after spending 12 weeks in a small studio with only basic french tv, while we were buying our house, I soon got to a point where we are now at similar levels.Mastermind
Perfect for travelling as the pegs go into holes
Another favourite is Backgammon.
Cards. But it needs at least one partner to have a some basic knowledge of card games.
I come from a large family but we never played card games, I doubt we even had a deck at home.
Which means the very few times I play cards with my wife she has to explain all the rules, and invariably wins every time, so not really any point.
If you have internet connection I can recommend Outsmarted. You don’t even have to take the board and the questions are up to date. They often have offers for extra packs.

I thought i was going to get the chance of adding a new game but Continuo is there and also our favourite and easy to store a simple 2inch cube. Not dog eared yet even though aquired 1982/3 from a Game/toyshop in Feltham. Continuo is an abstract strategy game by Maureen Hiron which was first published in 1982Hive (pocket), Bananagrams ( like scrabble but no board), Genius Square. Continuo (our favourite), Othello (also known as reversi)
Yes Monopoly Deal, we have played it for a few years, recently we also picked up a french version in a local supermarket. Not a board game but you can now get monopoly as a card game. Game time is not long winded either
