I'm after some advice, I'm setting on my travels next Tuesday 10 feb, I get into Calais at 1 in the afternoon, Im heading towards Dieppe/Le havre first and I only want to drive for a hour or so after getting off the ferry can you recommend a site/place on route....

There is a downloadable file of the route i use down to Benidorm. May be of use...

A lot would depend on what time of day you land and the weather.. There are a lot of coastal aires along that route if you want to make a short journey out to them. BUT if you arrive in the dark or in poor weather it may not be worth the detour.

Yes, juts turn up at the campsite on the date. All info is on the first post of this thread. I will be supplying a list to the campsite reception about a week before the rally.
There is no formal structure, things like get togethers etc just naturally seem to happen and no doubt we will have a special rally thread here on Fun so people can share information and make plans.
The campsite itself are keen go organise things depending on what those attending want to do. 50% on the list are "veterans" and I know they will be glad to show the newbies the ropes and help in anyway they can...

Just planning our route, depending on weather when arrive at Calais we might arrive earlier, have allowed 5 nights to travel, based on weather being ok to stop off places and explore a bit. If it's still wet and cold will drive longer and arrive earlier. Any recommendations for place to stay for 1-2 nights before 2nd? Thanks Lin & Nige

Along that area of coast are many campsites..
Bennicassim, Peniscola etc.....
Have a look on www.vayacamping.net
It could still be a busy time so get to the sites early afternoon to check availablility, that way you have time to move on if needed.
Bennicassim would be my choice and maybe Camping Azahar as it's more likely to have space PLUS there is an old railway just out the gates that's converted into a great walkway, also beach is almost right across the road. So ideal for the dogs.

Bugger!
We got as far south as Limoges only to get a message to say that Lin's sister is quickly losing her battle with cancer and the hospital has put on, what we assume, is an end of life plan.
So as you would expect we have done a U turn and are now heading north to the UK.
Tonks, we are not sure what the timeline is going to be so if anybody wants to take our place please let them have it.
Our intention is, if at all possible, to attend some if not all of the rally but if by the time we know our eta all the places are taken then we'll just book in and pay the full rate.
If at the end of the day we don't make it, it won't be for the want of trying.

UPDATE FUNSTERS...

I have been holding on to a slim chance of attending this rally BUT fate has struck and of all day's Tuesday 17th Feb (my birthday !) they want me at the hospital for pre-admission tests for my heart bypass.. So things could be happening soon.

On the rally side, I have now sent a final list (see below) to the campsite of those who are attending.
25 vans plus 1 other that was already pre-booked at the site.
Arrive on 2nd March and reception will check you off against the list.
Have a great time and enjoy a beer for me..

Guys..
Teasy2007 (Mike and Ginny) have arrived on site as they had planned a longer stay.
Received a favourable report back and hopefully they will be posting pics later.
They had a very warm welcome from the family, the newly built pitches are a good size and new toilet blocks etc will be finished this week.
They noted the turn in was a little tight if you arrive from the south (7.4mtr van) but managed ok.. Arriving from the North is easier and a better turn.
