1980 Opel Eriba
Hello people
I have just acquired a 1980 Opel Eriba.
Completely as an impulse buy and just for the fun of it.
I’m totally new to all things motorhome.
It needs work so I’m sure I will be asking Al sorts of daft questions.
If anyone has any advice to offer on it Ian all ears.
Cheers
Steve

Probably built properly, easy to fix if things go a bit wonky, and could possibly have a nice interior made from proper wood.
No lithium, no Inverters, and no comformatic gearbox!
I am a big fan of these early 80's and 90's A class motorhome type vehicles and hope we get some inside pics, even if there is a little TLC to be done.
Nice find Stephen Toplis .

It looks like it the base vehicle could be the Opel equivalent of a Vauxhall Viva, or an really Bedford van. Looking at the front grill, possibly an amalgamation of both? It is a lovely looking MH though.

Reminds me of a 70's Opel Kadett which was a car I always wanted as a kid, probably stupid money now.

Me too. I always wanted the rally prepared one. GTE, from memory.

That's the slightly later 80s model if memory serves, pretty sure the GTE's weren't until the 80s anyway. Could be wrong.

Unfortunately not had time to do anything to it yet except for christen it Bruno.
(Reference to the film Encanto and my wife’s total disdain for it)
Started him up for the first time for a while. He kicked up ok with a bit of choke (yes a manual choke).
He’s become a bit of a dumping ground.
Spring is when I’m going to make a start on sorting him out.

Finally started on Bruno’s refurb.
Lots to learn but I’ve set a target of getting him at least habitable in time for next years (2025) Y-not festival.
My plan is to do a maiden trip to that.
My plan is to keep the outside as original as possible but modernise the interior.
Found a point where he’s leaked in on the roof in the past so a bit of repair to do.
Loving it so far though.

If anyone can point me in the direction of a replacement back window I would appreciate it.
