Hi folks
Does anyone know if it is possible to charge a 12v cab battery in the engine bay via a 12v cigarette socket in the Motorhome internal dashboard?
Thanks

You don't need another one if your existing cig lighter is permanently live. If it isn't you could simply rewire it with a permanently live feed instead of via the ign switch.
It's sometimes handy to have a cig lighter socket back in the hab section. I have fitted one (admittedly connected to the leisure battery) in the rear of my hab part for a 12v supply, e.g. for charging 12v stuff.
Yep, I’ve got that too connected to the Hab battery.
Good eh?

Another vote for a Battery Master. Its designed to do what the OP needs. :)

Yes, battery master. K.I.S.S principle, why complicate matters? They're not expensive and do exactly what you're trying to achieve.

No disrespect Captain Yoghurtpot but you do seem to be making things over-complicated.

Thanks for the comment.
Please see further explanation.
Cheers.
Is it a Ducato?
A good place to run power would be next to the headlight level adjuster - large grommet on drivers side to extreme right of dashboard . I had to replace the headlight adjuster pipes previously.

None taken, but then I prefer to know exactly how something works and how I could fix it or replace it if, heaven forbid, I or my wife should ever be in a situation where things ain’t working whilst out and about, in the middle of nowhere on a wet and dark Sunday afternoon, with no chance of a replacement and the only option is the rescue service.
Just my way, but I like to understand things and I also enjoy puzzling things out, even if it seems obvious to most.

I've had 3 Ducato based Motorhomes 2008, 2014 & 2017, all switched via ignition.
,
Obviously mine is much older Lenny at year 2000, so not as technically well equipped, hence all my questions.
I appreciate all answers to anything, but unless I , or any other poster of questions, gives full details of the van in question, then the replies can be possibly mixed and sometimes confusing to a newbie like me because some replies are often assumed that the van referred to is of a similar age to theirs .
Just got to keep asking the questions and learning, I guess.
You mentioned a Battery Master piece of Kit from vanbitz.
I have seen a similar product called Voltronic from Roadpro.
It is much cheaper .
Any thoughts on it personally?
Cheers

It would help if you put details of your van in your profile, then we have a better idea of what you questions refer to.

I did Lenny, or thought I had, but don’t know how to check it’s taken, or how to get all the details I want in.
All help appreciated.

You put this in,

Motorhome is a Ci Rollerteam (?) type Coachbuilt 5 berth double dinette type with cab over on a Fiat Ducato 1.9td jtd engine.
Known as an Arabella model, originally supplied and imported by Don Amott Leisure, Burton, to UK spec and RH drive, but Habitation door on off side (rh side).
January 2001 registered, but 2000 base vehicle model.

this thread will help if you want to edit, https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/how-do-i-update-my-profile.209333/
