I have a Halfords Intelligent Charger that I use for maintaining various batteries at home. I recently bought a new Varta Leisure Battery for my electric outboard motor, and want to keep it fully charged. The Halfords charger keeps it at a float charge of 13.6v when in "Maintenance" mode.

I also have a cheap intelligent maintenace charger which is more compact - and is easier to keep in my toolbox.

It Charges/Maintains at a very low current (750 mA) but the float voltage is only 12.9 volts.

Will my Leisure battery stay full charged at this voltage?

Thanks,

John

Varta batteries normally have a little booklet attached with safety instructions etc, it also includes charging recommendations.

For wet cell it states 2.23v, for AGM 2.3v and 2.2v for golf carts

So 13.38v and 13.8v and 13.2v

Check charger output with a multimeter and Varta are one of the best.
