This probably is an age old question, but just learning to go without hook,
Using our solar panal only, but how do you watch tv?, we have a small alba 12 volt, , tried plugging into small 2 pin socket on motorhome, but no power going into tv. Can anyone help.?

Socket may not be live, fuse blown or faulty TV.
If you fitted the 2 pin plug to the TV did you get the polarity the right way round.
If it is wrong you now need a new TV.

Can you test your 2 pin socket using something else? There might be fuse or trip switch for that socket somewhere.
Can you check your tv working ok on 12 volt by using the cigarette lighter socket in the cab (may have to have engine running).
What type of 2 pin plug is on the TV?

As pappajohn states..
You need to know if that 2 pin (assume its the old caravan style of 2 flat pins) socket is actually working...
If you fitted the plug yourself or it's wired wrong then at best a blown fuse, at worst a blown Tv..

We have 100watt solar on our roof and use 12v when not on hook up, however it will use leasure battery while to solar keeps it topped up.. never just ran off solar so to speak.
Had a two pin socket on our first mh but 12v tv came with plug and cig plug for 12v..we bought 12v 2 pin to cig adapter off ebay and had little or no problems..
Hope you get it sorted.

Socket def. Live and tested. Tv tested and ok,
Bought lead with 4 pin plug to go into tv, and the other end has 2 flat pins to go into van socket.

Then the only answer is a faulty lead.
The 4 pin plug will have 2 x live and 2 x earth terminals.
Test with a meter swapping around as needed to find if BOTH are live and BOTH earth are connected.
If one side is not connecting the TV won't work.

Is it two pins in a T shape , they are that way so that polarity is correct . LED and lots of 12v stuff will only work if polarity is right
The other sort use a different pin size to ensure polarity . So did you check ?

No papajohn. Did not put a plug on it, the ciggi adaptor plug has these pins on it which go into the fitted socket on van. The other end of this adaptor has 4 small pins , like an ariel, whic goes into tv.

May well be a simple problem - on some on the control panel the 12v outlet is controlled by a switch marked Aux - turn that to the on position and see if that is the issue

All good advice, yea turned on aux switch next to it.
The lead seems ok, the square box on it lights up green,
And yes the two pins are t shaped so cant mess them up.
