Hi all, there's a limited time offer on the Carphone warehouse website offering 100 GB data on a Vodaphone SIM only deal for £20 a month, 12 month contract it includes global roaming so might be a good deal for someone.

Broken Link Removed

It's the top one.

I visited my local Carphone Warehouse last week and discussed this very Vodafone offer. The Manager told me that there is no way you can use that amount of data abroad and that you will get hit with "fair usage" policies in the local country that you are in. His advice was don't buy it to use loads of data overseas. If you want to do that he said buy a local SIM card. Don't know if he's right or not but he is the manager ( not a callow youth) and it put me off and I thanked him for his advice.

Vodafone roaming terms below

It doesn't mention fair use for global roaming only global roaming plus, look at the bottom of the page.

100gb for £20 per month is damned good value, particularly for Vodafone which gives you 4G just about everywhere.
I thought I had a good deal with 65gb for £26.
As far as I know there are no restrictions on use abroad but to date haven’t used all our monthly allowance. Ask me in 3 weeks time when we will have soaked up most of our 65gb.

Richard.

Interesting and glad to hear this sort of 1st hand feedback

I've just gone for the same deal through mobiles.co.uk. Works out at £13pm after cash back. Other deal available with less cash back but you receive a cheque in the post without going through hoops.

That looks like a stonking deal. How long does it take them to pay you the cash back, and is it in one go.

Edit, I actually read Thier extra charges there, are the unlimited minutes only to other mobiles and not landlines?? As I read 55p PM to land-line, is that correct?

Any “fair use policy” rattles my cage. Unlimited surely means just that, not with a caveat. They might as well say unlimited, but our fair use policy is two minutes. :gum:

Do these work in a Mifi dongle aswell as a mobile phone?

That’s what I wondered as well as I heard that these sims won’t work in an iPad/mifi as the networks know you will use them probably more than a phone. I don’t have broadband at home so use a 40gb data sim from three for £20 a month which works well for me.

I just rang car phone warehouse and they assured me it will work in my Mifi device.Ive ordered one to be delivered tomorrow so I’ll let you know if it works......or not

I went direct to Vodafone and asked them. I have it in writing so I have 100GB for £20 per month to go in the iPad. No cash back thing and direct with Vodafone...
Good deal for me with no home broadband, means I can stream with no worry

I've been using it in a mifi for a couple days now without a problem in the Scottish Borders. Streaming ok on 3G & 4G.

We’ve been using Vodafone 50gb ,up to the limit , in Europe for about a year now with no slowing down or restrictions. We’ve just moved on to the 100gb, why will this be any different ? I don’t think it will !

Switched from Vodafone 50Gb data 30.00 per month in a mifi to the 100GB, unlimited minutes & txt for 20.00 per month with a 60.00 cashback taking it to 15.00 pm. It appears a complete no brainer, new sim works fine in the mifi unit. Made a note in calender to review it in 11 months but even at 20.00pm it is a good deal.

Tiger Tom,

How have you moved up to 100bg from 50gb with Vodafone? (I'm interested because when I tried to do the same they told me that offer wasn't available to me as an existing SIM only customer.)

I just applied for the 100 gb with mobiles.co.uk so I got the discount as well, then cancelled my monthly 50gb plan.
They asked for details of my existing contract but there were no problems.
Good luck.

Just a quick word of caution if you sign up through mobiles.co.uk as I have just done, once the transaction was complete I got an offer to claim £16.87 cashback straight away through a partner company, read it carefully because you might end up paying £15 a month to be able to get discounts on a range of other products which may or may not be something you need/want.

Yes on a Mifi device.Getting around 12 mb according to my speed app.

£70 cash back on Three 100 GB @ £20 per month if ordered via topcashback.

I was on three but the signal was atrocious in my area.I rang thier help line on several occasions but they didn’t get to the root of the problem.Just kept telling me to reset my device.Hopeless.

I have just signed up to Vodafone 100GB for my mobile for £20 a month but my contract with o2 has 2 months to go so intend to use the new sim in my mifi until then as noticed people had posted it was possible. Was intending to get a 50GB data only sim on 30day contract for £50 a month until I read I could use mobile sim in a mifi, saving me £10 a month. Can someone let me know that if I should put the sim in my phone to register for roaming before I cross the water. Have tried it in the mifi and seems to work ok n the U.K. Was going to register on Vodafone web site but they would send me a security code to my mobile which I wouldn't receive as sim not in phone. Looking forward to clarification from knowledgeable users.

Not tried Three before, just relying on the coverage map which seems good for where we are and where we mostly go in the moho.
