Last time I was over I used dedicated motorhome spaces on the harbour side. Also out of town and bus in.

I agree that Galway really do not want motorhomes. Have always stopped there on our travels but last time we were touring we just gave up. You can't even park long enough to nip in the Tourist Board for advice. It wasn't that it was busy as loads of empty parking places all of which banned motorhomes. Sad.

There was also talk of banning the street buskers too but no idea if this took place.

The buskers were part of the reason for me going there

Don't judge coming to Ireland off Galway. Galway has a terrible reputation for allowing motorhome parking. The rest of Ireland is a lot friendlier!!
We certainly wouldn't. We did the NC500 this year and have the WAW on our radar for perhaps next year. We have never visited in our MH, but have been many times for business and pleasure. It is a beautiful place, and we have always been made to feel very welcome. 🇮🇪 ❤️

Agree with all comments regarding Galway not welcoming motorhomes, however if you do want to visit the city there is a caravan site at Salthill that will rip you off for €40+ per night.

The problems in Galway is the campsite owners have a few owners on the council…

Funny thing Nigel - We are thinking of a circuit the north and west of Ireland as part of a trip to Spain from the north of England next year. With a ferry from Eire direct to Spain.......

We've given ourselves 8 weeks in Éire, then the rest of the summer in the north of Spain as per.
We're thinking 8 weeks might not be long enough to do the trip without rushing, but too long for us to cope with the weather.
It's been a awhile since we've experienced the two-wet-dogs-in-a-motorhome syndrome ...

There is, (or used to be) a nice campsite at Westport House. It had a small shop for milk and the like, and a bar that opened weekends last time we went. There were storks nesting in the surrounding trees.

Currently in Ireland and have just spent seven weeks coming up the WAW. It’s been a stunning journey and there are so many bits we didn’t see. You would need months to do every signed bit of it. Some of it does get tight and be prepared for some van vibration on some of the roads 😂
Now in Londonderry ( amazing place) having finished the WAW and will slowly amble down to Dublin.
A few photos to give you a taste. You will love it.

We're contemplating the NC500 next year as well as the Southern100 and TT. If you have any info on MH parking please share. 😀
