Hi all, spot of bother here and hoping for any ideas, help, suggestions! I'm at the forest of dean and just bust my shoulder mountain biking with my 2 sons. Off to A and E now but won't be able to drive. It's a 3.5 tonne 7.3 m long lhd rimor seal 50.

Need to get it and the kids back to just north of Brighton. Happy to pay anyone who could drive it back. Or are there companies that help with this sort of thing?

Realistically looking at this evening or tomorrow.

Do you have time to edit your title to put Forest of Dean in so funsters know where you are?

Wish I could offer but am at the wrong end of the country. Fingers crossed someone can assist, and good luck for a speedy recovery.
Are you on a campsite? If so, maybe the wardens know someone local-ish?

You could try Marquis at Gloucester, they may have drivers they use in their business to go to shows etc.

I'd speak to the insurers and ask their advice, you'd have to speak to them anyway if someone else drives it.
Can't be the first time they've had this situation arise.

Do you have annual travel insurance. Try them or you and the kids get a train and we can sort the van later is it on a campsite

Apparently not from conversation with them but thank you anyway
Sorry to hear but wanted mention it just in case with all the drama you hadn't considered it. I Specifically ask about driver being unfit to drive when I take out cover..... But appreciate not everyone thinks about the scenario.

It's currently in the bike car park but the forestry commission guys are aware and keeping an eye on it.

Is that Brighton as on the south coast?

I think they might well cover the cost yes. Wife is investigating.

I think that is the problem with your insurance, unless you specify that she can't drive it they expect that she can ☹️

If the wife can drive it and is at home. That's how I've understood it. Could someone not bring her to you , have a night and then she drive it back

Maybe get it to Quackers and if there's room leave it there

She's never driven it and not comfortable with it unfortunately.

Only a suggestion but there are over 30 vans here at Hereford now and will be 70 by Thursday for the rally. If someone could get it to here at least it would be safely parked, give you time to sort something or at least kids on train home and ask rowing club if they are happy to store it.
There are a few here with cars, unfortunately at present I can't drive for a while as just had 2 pints. May depend what area of the forest you are in ..
For info I helped a funsters with taking them and van back in past, the insurance with comfort were very good and added me on with no extra charge.

Worst case is a local recovery business ( Google).

Do you have a friend or relative who could get train to Bristol Parkway. I am happy to pick up and drive them to where you are parked.
How old are the boys, it is not clear if wife with you and boys or at home?

If I had broken a bone from a leisure pursuit and said we are going home to the missus, pretty sure I'd have several more! ::bigsmile:
In all seriousness if I was closer I'd take it for you. Contact a driver agency if desperate? Class 2 driver wouldn't have a problem and may work out cheaper.

Thank you that's kind. Just me and 2 boys here and they are 12 and 14 so being helpful and have all they need. Have a few options to explore and will bear yours in mind. Thanks again

If you don't add the wife/partner as a named driver on the insurance then they'd have no expectation that they should be able to drive it.

Yes. It's about a 3 hour drive
3 hours from the Forest to Brighton is far too optimistic. We regularly take the Newhaven ferry, it's a good 3-4 hours to reach from Bristol which is another hour or so to the Forest.
So best to allow longer I advise.

That said I join others in wishing you well.

Ok let’s see if this might help.

I could collect you from the forest in your Moho.

Drop you off at Cheltenham train station.
Your Moho stays on our drive till Saturday morning.

You go home on train and I bring your Moho down Saturday morning as we are going to Hearne Bay early doors.

PM me with mobile number etc 👍
