Ardmore proved a bit quiet on the Monday evening. Most places were shut leaving only a hotel on the edge of town for a final meal, which proved good of seafood, before I found the village pub for Guinness.
A leisurely departure from the motorhome field around midday (could have stayed until 2pm). With plenty of time before the 7:30pm Stena ferry from Rosslaire, I took some of the back coastal roads around County Waterford.
Part of the route was signed as the Copper Route. The area between Dungarvan and Tramore was a major copper mining district in the early to mid 1800s. There are many similarities to Cornwall and steam engines for the pit shafts and water pumping were almost identical. The Tankardstown mine was right on the coast with shafts that went down some 200m below sea level.
i also got the opportunity for a final view of sea cliffs and other coves.
I passed through Tramore, which seemed very depressing as a funfair based seaside town with large beach, arcades and stuff. There was then another coastal road route, which seemed to miss the key ingredient of coast. That lead me into the back of a traffic jam called Waterford city centre. From there fast N roads to Rosslaire. A pub meal in the last but one pub in Ireland and it's ferry time.
