The ferry bookings for the French routes for late this year and next are now open.

The ferry bookings for the French routes for late this year and next are now open.
Prices seem expensive. We are planning to get a ferry Portsmouth to Caen early October which is £133 . Book the ferry in November & its £80 more. The October crossing has also gone up since yesterday. Hope the Spanish crossings in November dont follow the same pattern when released.

We have a booking for October on the Spanish Route.

We paid nearly £600 for that trip in May, (that includes a cabin and a food pass)

I have just booked that same trip again a few moments ago.
That booking comes out at less than £450 for exactly the same trip.
The original booking had a 'Base Price' for 2 Px and our van of £481.
The current price for the same is £326.

It would seem, from reading the above post by Howard B that the price
for October will go up when they publish next years traffic.

I will wait for the Spanish routes to be published and then kick my original
booking into the long sand by amending that booking to next year.

IF YOU HAVE A BOOKING FOR LATER THIS AUTUMN ON THE SPANISH ROUTES,
HAVE A LOOK AND SEE IF YOU CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE!!!

I have just done a random mid week in October 2025 on the tunnel ( none out for next October yet)…cheapest, standard crossing with our 7m motorhome, 2 adults and it was £314 total. If I include the £100 in diesel to get there and back that’s £414. In comparison, Poole to Cherbourg on the same dates this year is £266 total and an 1 mile drive for me. Obviously only 1 crossing a day which affects people who are time limited by work. So currently still cheaper than the tunnel. I really hope the ferry companies don’t take advantage of the dearer tunnel prices to hike theirs up but they probably will. 😔

Cheers for that. I was going to book a ferry from Portsmouth to Caen beginning of October & drive through France. That overnight crosing with an inside cabin was £181. Just looked at the Plymouth- Santander crossing and it comes in at £350 with a 4 berth outside cabin. No brainer really, saves me 700 miles driving and the cost of fuel & a couple of sites covers the extra £170 for the Santander ferry. All booked for the 1st October.

Bugger!
Ours is later in the month.
Enjoy.

I’ve just had a look and can’t book Spain ferry for January 26 yet as it’s not on their site yet?

I noticed that all Plymouth -Santander ferries in October were silly cheap prices.
Then, this morning, someone (above) posted that the French routes were going cheap before today, BUT, (big but,) when they published the new timetable for France, the french ferry prices took a leap up.

I'm guessing that the same will apply to the Spanish fares for October when they publish the Spain timetable.

Thus, my original post. (y)

right thats us booked for end of December Portsmouth-St Malo over night with cabin £249 (Club Voyage price)

Morning,
The Santander-Plymouth ferry 27th Oct. jumped overnight from £326 to £510 for our van. (Under 3mts. height 8mts long)
Other dates in October, going backwards at the mo. are unaffected.

Patiently awaiting for next weeks Spainsh routes release. Have done Portsmouth to Santander/Bilbao several times with motorcycle but next June will be taking wifey along and our pup in our van with the motorbike on the trailer. She has never been to northern Spain so am looking forward to showing her the sights. I have been checking the crossings every hour in case they get released before next week as getting a pet cabin I will need to be quick for the shorter Plymouth to Santander ferry....

It will be including the return but still expensive which is why it's worth doing the club voyage. We only have to make 1 trip a year to make it worth more than triple what we pay for it ( that is under the old terms though). Of course if you are not restricted by time then cheaper to go down France and pay the tolls.

We have the old club voyage. I just can’t make the longer sailing to Spain a viable price option. Other than time saving.
We have 90 days and travel through France non tolls. Free Aires.
As our next trip is our first trip without a pet so would be nice for a change. But can’t justify the cost even tried different dates looking for cheaper options no good.

You've answered your own question as you are not restricted by time so have no need to use it, if I was in the same position I would not be using it either, but it saves us approx 2–3 days travelling which gives us back the time for our holiday. Everybody's needs will be different, but mine is based purely on maximising the time i have.

The benefits of early retirement (y)

I've just looked at our yet to be booked return date of the 31st Oct.

It's £321 cheaper Caen than Santander on the date with fuel to add
