Badly leaking taps

Hi Everyone, this is my first ever forum so please advise if I make a mistake, I recently bought a Frankia 630sd 2007 for a reasonable price to see if we would like the Motorhome experience. We set off on our great adventure no instructions needed so I thought. That’s another crack for another day. We found the taps in the bathroom leaked badly and when looking at new taps and shower fittings 90% have built in mico-switches, ours must be old as it doesn’t have these. Do I need to rewire or hope theres a switch on the pump that works on pressure only.

If you don't have micro-switches on the taps then your pump will have a built in pressure sensor.
If your taps are leaking and you do have the above pump you will hear the pump run from time to time to build up pressure due to the leak.

If you don't have the micro switch type then your taps are more or less what you have fitted in your bathroom at home. We replaced a leaking MH bathroom tap with one from Wickes. Just make sure that you get one with the same mounting arrangement and the same water pipes.

As said if not microswitched type they are just basic domestic taps that you can get new ceramic inserts for or sometimes easier to change the whole tap. Just make sure you can get at the underneath to undo the securing nut and hoses and they are not behind anything else.
It should be an easy fix.

Taps can be very expensive, why not check the washer first?
Although most taps may fit, the low pressure van pumps may differ from domestic taps.

The wires on the micro switches have a tendency to break and stop working.
To avoid this many fit the pressure type of pump you have and regular domestic taps.
So your ahead of the game already

And if you have the pressure sensor system you can use any tap you like and avoid Motorhome tax they put on anything "motorhome". Might need one small spigot to go from domestic tap pipe to MH plastic pipe that's all.

We recently bought a 2016 Frankia and that doesn’t have micro switches on the taps.
Depends where the tap is leaking from.
Sometimes taps can leak due to the swivel part having dry seals, by stripping the tap and applying a little silicone grease to the seals this may stop the leak

Hi everyone, Thank you for all you help and advice it worked a treat. The leak was from the tap body and a friend said the leak could have been caused by the frost with not draining the system correctly, shower to do now. Yes Rosalan is expensive doesn’t quite describe the shock of HOW MUCH! Does it fit its self? But all in all what’s a full tank of diesel. All I need now is a tow bar so I can take the motorcycle on the next adventure to Spain.
