£1057 Costco Spain ?

£1,900 Costco UK ?
Ahh the old comparing countries problem.

Spain has lower labour rates, power rates, property taxes etc.
Things sold in Spain have to be sold cheaper than they may actually be valued at to get the sale.
Then there is currency conversions.

They will always be cheaper over there than here.

How much of that £843 is due to labour rates, electric costs, building taxes, business rates etc etc etc. And how much is due to the discount for Spain?

I never make country to country comparisons. I trade cross border and see the effects of distortions like this regularly.

Best just to look at the product itself and see if you can get it cheaper at another supplier in the UK, that will really tell you if it is a rip off in the UK.

Are they the same? Hard to tell from the picture. They look similar, however, one appears to have jointed uprights, one bolted, one natural cedar one something else(?), one with power points etc, do both? Something doesn’t add up, not sure it is a fair like for like, regardless , the UK offereing doesn’t look bad,

Good post, I would say if you want one at the Spanish price then just manage on the Spanish wage. No comparison and no doubt half the Spanish cost in China so maybe rip off Spain?

I'm guessing the whole thing made and packed in China, so it can only be the middle men who the setting the price in each country.
But it's the same for everything all priced to suit the local market. We find it cheaper for food in the UK such as melons which are half the price of france where they grow and tomato grown in Spain seem better and cheaper here.

The shipping people in the UK need paying. The warehouse people in the UK need paying. The costco office staff need paying, the shop floor staff need paying and many more.
Even if made in China...
Have you seen how much warehouses cost in the UK vs Spain?

Utopia 430 Wooden Gazebo 4m x 3m | Dunster House https://dunsterhouse.co.uk/garden-s...HjaCKhroeTJvOj_edwvoCod3Drk7lmo8aAjnVEALw_wcB
Discounted to £909 from £1400
Looks completely different to me. This one looks like a much cheaper version?

ALSO very misleading about which product you are going to get. Scroll through the picture and pay attention to the angled bits near the top of each leg.

In some they are morticed in within the body of the leg like the costco one, and in most they are just screwed to the outside and look terrible.

But then in other places they do this.

This prompted changing our online details since changing from a company account to a personal one to maintain the Executive Membership benefits.

Looking at removing our hot tub and creating an outdoor kitchen thing to use the recent pre birthday month Ninja Wood BBQ and retirement pressie Ninja Pizza Oven prior to retiring end of next month. These gazebo things against garden wall and colour fence with roller shutter garage doors for closing off and using as storage over winter for garden furniture etc.

These are currently available under 'Hot Buys' at Costco:

For a comparison, chatting to some Dutch Ikea staff and they go to Bulgaria for their * buys* what costs 100 euros in Holland is 20 euros in Bulgaria, same stuff , same store and staff discount as well!

But which one do you get? One is cheap and nasty the other is pretty good. I would expect the pictures to be representative of the construction if not the colour.

Wouldn't be much trouble to build one.

It's called economy.
Have to pay people more, businesses put prices up more to cover it.
People have to spend the pay increase on higher priced product.
Money makes the world go round , world go round, la la.la la

Remember the days people used to bring Nike trainers from the usa back to Britain at a quarter of the price they could buy them here.. not any more, the interweb sorted that out.

Not wanting to burst your bubble but just materials would probably twice the cost of a knock together.

Materials are stupid money since Covid inflation.

I’m a chippy and renovating and extending my own house so getting decent discounts.
It’s still costing a fortune 😱
