Tap in my Adrias bathroom is leaking badly at the top , probably O rings in the cartridge ,, unscrewed the lever but the plastic chrome top wont release to access underneath ,,, some videos show there is a little Hex screw under the lever but mine does not have that .reluctant to force things

any tips to get this open so I can replace the cartridge ????

I fixed the leaking kitchen tap in the Motorhome with silicone as it was leaking at the water input ...and is cured ...

The little lock Hex screw is further down the disassembly process I believe.

You may just need something to get you more grip. A piece of rubber, a rubber glove, a silicone oven sheet, something like that.

Thought so. Same as mine. The chrome dome just unscrews. You just need to get a grip on it.

Tried re sealing but not 100% successful so bought a new one off flea bay about £35 I think.

You have got the cap off (the bit the lever screws into) off, before trying the chrome dome??.

Lever off.
Chrome cap pull off.
Undo screw in top of white cartridge lever.
Unscrew chrome dome
This then shows the cartridge retaining nut.

Ok got the chrome dome off very tight needed water pump pliers and a strap wrench on body ,, now ,, all my 27mm socket wont fit onto onto cartridge retaining nut ,, hmm is it something weird like 28mm ??? or not metric ??????

Just stick the grips around it. It will damage it but I have a spare you can have if required, and it isn’t needed for tap to work.

If it’s the older (better) design it is a brass nut. 29mm on the two flats (28.8mm)
If new plastic crap then it is 29.8mm across two sets of flats and 30mm across the other pair. So a 30mm box socket.
I tend to use a Bahco adjustable spanner but pointing downward to tap, so only using the very tips of the jaws.

I got it out ,, jeezzz what a palaver the retaining nut is 27mm but a normal socket wont do it as its too thick ,, now off to get parts

Just had a thought if its the orings that are worn making it leak like my main tap in kitchen why not just add a touch of silicone gasket to them and re use ???the cartridge ????

Take a look on YT at ‘Jon in the Burstner’ channel. His latest video was on repairing this tap.

On my basin one it just needed nipping up. I’ve replaced the shower one as it was the body leaking.

the silicone idea did not work LOL have ordered a new cartridge online

Did you try Screwfix for cartridge.
I’ve had trouble undoing the plastic nut with a flange moulded in, I put a couple of holes in the flange and then used bent circlip pliers in the holes

Screwfix only do the 35mm one's now I think, but much cheaper.
Mike.

Got new cartridge and fitted to tap but still same small leak at base of tap on countertop ????

It can be the O rings on the base part of the tap that allows the spout to rotate. Requires far more disassembly to get to them.

Yes I’ve had a leak there, took tap apart and applied a little silicone grease, that did the trick

At this point you'll probably wish you'd bought a new tap. These tap housings are plastic and split or crack easily

Another problem with the chrome plastic taps is the chrome peels off inside
