Still not sure why this is twice as good as the Votronic Standby Charger unit?

Not sure but a few observations.

1.It's British made!
2. It's comes with cables
3. It charges at 1amp instead of 3amp
4. It's not double the price - more like 30% more.

I fitted one of those CBE units to our old Hymer E690, and never suffered a flat starter battery thereafter. A great little piece of kit, however it does work slightly different to the Vanbitz Battery Master.

Cheers,

Jock. :)
I bought mine for £15 of e bay many years ago and has given me good service through 3 vans. Easy to install with one wire to the starter battery .
Even works with my lithium leisure but need to switch it off occasionally.

I let mine go with the Hymer Jim, as the Flair had a Vanbitz unit already installed. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

1. Is that good or bad that the Chinese bits are soldered in somebody's shed
2. The Votronic kit has the cables albeit only 2 of them are needed
3. why is 1 amp better than the 3amp Votronic unit?
4. £73 vs £35 delivered

Yes - I've got one fitted to my Autotrail PVC and it too has worked flawlessly for the last three years or so.

It differs from the Battery Master only in that it operates on and off at fixed voltages (from memory turns on if leisure battery is over 13.6v) rather than at a voltage differential between the leisure and starter batteries.

In practice it achieves the same outcome - diverting excess solar or EHU from the leisure battery to keep the starter battery topped up.
