In Greece, there has been a change in the law that penalizes parking motorhomes in public places.
This does NOT mean free standing, but actually parking in public parking lots, but also at taverns, dig sites, etc.
If more than one motorhome is there, fines up to €300 can be imposed.
This law is not thought through from front to back, because those who travel in their motorhome also have to go shopping or want to see something.
In practice, the use of motor homes and caravans is abolished by both Greek citizens and foreign visitors in this way.
So now there is a petition that counts for every vote.
I'll link it in the comments and also the German translation.
And yes, even if you go on vacation at a campsite, this law applies to you, because you have to get there first - without stopping anywhere.

In the form, camping in Greece is made impossible

Does anyone on MHFun know any more about this new law?

That's even more Fiddlesticksing F,D and NL motorhomes to clog up Spain...
Our local Municipality is building another 500 pitch camperpark...I think they might have to add another Zero .🇪🇦😎

Well as you all know, I just started last year and was hoping to get at least 10 years of usage from the van. Seems that goal gets less and less likely every day
Well I couldn't agree more...but both yourself and ourselves live in places that people pay loads of dosh to take a holiday..we could stay at home and be still contented...but I prefer travelling..anyway..it's never going to happen in Spain... I'm sure of that..🇪🇦😎

True, but having paid a large sum of money for the van, I want to enjoy it and travel while we still can.
but I prefer travelling..anyway..it's never going to happen in Spain... I'm sure of that..🇪🇦😎
Let's hope you are right.

Not been to Greece for a few years I was thinking of going next spring, I won't be going if we have to stay on campsites.
We wouldn't either Lenny, we don't often use Campsites in our adopted country of Spain..we believe for general numbers of visitors, Spain has got enough locations to accommodate all...we are currently parked in a lovely 8 place camperstop with 5 others...and today is a national holiday...🇪🇦😎

It is Facebook…..🤷🏼‍♂️

Anything official….🤔

Yes it is FB but in the N&B Owners section, so not just gossip as it has been posted by the petitioner.

The petition against it quotes the Official Gazette reference, but I have been unable to access it so far and have asked on the FB forum for help to find it.

The petition has received 3,366 signatures in 48 hours, including several companies which will be badly affected.

Well looking at the article I found above means that I won’t be going on a 3 month tour September 26….. this will surly hurt the local business…🤔
Not if it leads to more hotel holidays which I was in fact looking at, wouldn't dream of taking the van over so makes no difference to me.

Who wants to drag a motorhome about when in a couple of hours in a Ryanair plane at £100 each return you can get be here.

Not the same, all the hassle of flying and I certainly wouldn't go on Ryanair. Then cost of hotels and you have to eat out all the time. Did a week in Spain last year flying, just meal a day we spent €300 on food.

Greece was great for wilding as usual I expect it's the inconsiderate long tetmers that have Fiddlesticksed it for everyone.

Sorry don't want to start an argument but if we went in the van we would still eat out, as I think you did mostly on your last trip and Ryan air at east mids is just like catching a bus.

A couple of hours on any flight actually takes about 7 hours of travelling and standing in endless queues, then doing it all over again to get home. Not my idea of a holiday

Will this affect Northernraider? Was he planning Greece and Turkey this winter. Reading that article you can't even park up to go to the shops or for a cup of tea.

I'm sorry mate but that is almost nonsense, obviously you haven't flown from east Midlands, twenty minutes up the road , the same road we would have to go to the M1, about twenty minutes through the check-in, walk through duty free have a coffee and they will be calling you to the gate, maybe an hour all in.
