Emmmmm…..NO!

  • Anniversary of St. George's Death:
St. George's Day is the day that marks the death of St. George, the patron saint of England, which is believed to have occurred on April 23rd.

  • Church of England's Rule:
The Church of England has a rule that no saints' day should be celebrated between Palm Sunday and the Sunday after Easter.

  • Potential Shift in Date:
If April 23rd falls within the period between Palm Sunday and the Sunday after Easter, the celebration is moved to the Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter.

  • 2025 Exception:
In 2025, St. George's Day is celebrated on April 23rd, as it does not fall within the Easter period.

A note issued by the church states: 'When St George's Day or St Mark's Day falls between Palm Sunday and the Second Sunday of Easter inclusive, it is transferred to the Monday after the Second Sunday of Easter. If both fall in this period, St George's Day is transferred to the Monday and St Mark's Day to the Tuesday.'

"Allegedly " it's also reported to be William Shakespears birthday and the same date he died...

Hangs head in shame

Went to fly my flag this morning and could not find it. Then I remembered flying it above a stage in a theatre for a kids show last summer. I obviously left it behind. 😥

They made him a saint! And it’s a saint’s day, not a day of official national celebration 😁
