I am planning to do the fairytale route in Germany in May. How do I go about finding aires along this route? Any suggestions? Many thanks.

Just search "Romantischestrasse". Several threads on here about it.
Then when you've completed it go onto the "Alpenstrasse". Lots of stellplatze (German aires) along both.

The Slaws, Annabel & Simon did the fairytale route last summer. Mrs Slaw plans to the nth degree, Their videos are on oooohtube:

isnt the 'fairytale' route the romantic road? we did part of it a couple of years ago and found a couple of free aires along the route that we used.

if you use the search function and look for posts by MisterB, you will see some of the places. i would add though that there are far more experienced travellers along this route than we are, so do a general search for posts by anyone aswell.

there are a lot of paid for aires along the route which were very good value in my opinion, though its nice to stop away from the crowds sometimes on a little free park up.

The Fairytale Route is the Deutsche Märchenstraße.
It winds northward from Hanau, the hometown of the Brothers Grimm, to Buxtchude near Hamburg.
It should be pretty easy to plot stops along the way by using Search for Sites or Park4Night.

From what I saw of Slaws videos, the route seemed very boring compared to the Romantic route, but we all have different tastes.

Never heard of "fairytale route" which, cynic that I am, suggests it's probably not worth going out of your way for. But will keep it in mind for whenever we go to Germany again.

We’ve been going since 1973 don’t worry about travelling you’ll love it you need a stellplatze book done by pro Mobil if you PM me I’ll send you one 👍

I used to love the German Bordatlas book to find Stellplatze.

Much prefer it to phone apps but realise it’s not the future
