Hi Everyone,

Just had a new quote for our motorhome regarding insurance. I know this has been brought up before but hoping someone on the forum can help us out.

WE got a new MoHo last year, our insurance has gone from £350 to £940 plus a £700 excess is this the norm now. Or are we being ripped off by our insurance company.

Any advice or recommendations will be much appreciated, thanking everyone in advance.

According to "Which!" magazine insurance costs have fallen. I have just renewed our car insurance and managed a considerable discount with a bit of haggling and proof of a better offer from a competitor.

Who you with at the moment, ?
I’m with nfu which has good cover and seem reasonable, only down side depending on your van size you may have to get independent breakdown cover .

Worth giving Grove & Dean a try. They were significantly less than everyone else for us and do need you to install a Tracker Nano, but they give you it for free. My second year with them and more than happy.

Remember to read the T&Cs carefully before signing up. There are a lot of policies that don't quite cover what you need, Like limited windscreen cover and limited parking at home if using a storage compound, etc, etc.

You don't give us much information to help evaluate risk. Have you moved home or where the van is stored? Have you acquired fresh endorsements on your licence or made a claim re the van or some other vehicle? Are there fresh medical conditions to factor in? It seems strange that various insurers have refused to quote. Are you now 80+ perhaps?
You look to have been motor-homing for some years but a number of insurers get to be risk averse post 80. That is a big jump if there has been no change in your circumstances.
Query did somebody cock up and get the figure that you paid last year completely wrong?!!!
After that I have run out of ideas!

Send me a DM of what I need to put as I'm going with them next month as they are £110 cheaper than last year

Hi,
I think it all adds up to us buying a new Fiat based van with a factory fitted immobiliser, they don't seem to like them. Plus our old van was a 16 reg plate so i assume it is a big jump in value. I hope i'm not 80 unless my mother got it wrong then i am in trouble ( ha ha). Everyone i have spoken too say their insurance has gone up. I have now got a reasonable quote which i am happy with. As my other half would say it is what it is. Thank you for your post.
