I do not understand why people place a bucket to collect their grey water when they have a grey water holding tank?

What is the appeal of carrying a bucket every day to the grey water disposal rather than emptying the MoHo tank at the end of the stay?

Please enlighten me!

Depends how long they're staying for, if a week or so the tank will start to smell in warmer climes

On rallies or CL sites owners often ask you to drop the grey into the hedges, hence a bucket. Some / many places don't have drive over disposal site.
Some buckets have holes in them and never actually need emptying :whistle2:

If you shower at the block, maybe also do your dishes at the block, then you don't go through much water. An occasional bucket isn't too much faff.

We use our onboard facilities to the full. So we end up driving to the dump point every few days.

It depends on the location and the amount of time you are staying.

A small CL. overnight we will collect in a bucket and dump in the hedges
A German site with hard standing, even overnight, we would use the tank and the dump station

I empty my grey waste by bucket because I don't want to spend time queuing for the services and can do it while my wife washes up breakfast dishes. Each to there own you do what you do I do what I do 👍

Everyone is different. I don't get the using the campsite showers. Why would you want to leave the van in the morning and stand on someone else's pubes to wash?
That could lead to my other mystery of why people have motorhomes and won't use its bathroom facilities but I won't go there......:censored:

The waste tank stays empty, I get the exercise and the buckets always clean because I bring the fresh water back in it, coffee sometimes has a funny tang though I’ll have to sort that out

I use a Fiamma wheeled tote tank and keep the holding tank valve open directly to the Fiamma which prevents an accumulation of greasy smelly residue in the holding tank and becoming smelly.

I don't stand in anyone else's hairsuit deposits cos' I wear my cross in the site showers.
And my shower is not really that big and I don't see the point in filling my watertank to then empty it with a shower to create more waste to have to lug away in my bucket.
Yes, I could refill my tank by moving the van, and empty the waste, before going back to my pitch, to rehook up everything AGAIN, but I prefer to keep things topped up waterwise with my watering can for fresh water, and emptied with my bucket, if on site for a few days.
It's dead easy, and the measures of watering can to bucket are equal.
If I was moving daily, then things would be different, filling and emptying wise, but we don't move daily.
Just our choice thanks.
Oh, and on a lot of the quality sites I have stayed on with almost regimental cleaning routines, said bodily deposits are non-existant.
Just saying like...........

I never close the grey tank tap, as we don't use camp sites, we are on grass fields a lot, so it drains away naturally. I have used a bucket when on hard standing, it gets emptied in the most appropriate way.
We do not wash greasy dishes, or let any food go down the van sink, we wash up in a basin inside or outside, then tip that in the hedge or appropriate place.
We have never had a smelly grey tank because of this, thats beside the fact that the inboard underfloor drain tap has been busted since new, needing a whole day to remove in board tank and replace tap valve & 3 ft long lever whilst raised up on a ramp.:censored:
Champaign Cork stuffed in the outlet, always starts a conversation.(y);)

I use two 10 ltr watering cans to top up the fresh water each day, using 2 balances the weight one on each arm, handy for a long walk to tap. Moving the van to the water point, getting hose out, connecting hose, then blowing water out before packing away etc...sod that, I would have had three trips to the tap & back by then, more than enough to top up. I use a Fiamma 15 litre roll thingy when parked up for a week or so which is mainly in Spain in Winter, cannot move the van as we have an awning attached so easy to use that every couple of days. It does not matter what other people do anyway.

Long story short, you enjoy showering in other people's pubes.

I don't get it either, goes with those who have to fill with a watering can when it's so much easier with a hose.
Really Lenny?
Not in my experience.
Hose was a major faff.
And I like the ability to have a quick walk to do the ablutions / refills.
But we are all different.
It's what makes the world go round, thankfully. (y)

Not in my experance takes ages to fill a 160 Lt water tank with a bucket.
Nooooooooo.
Our tank is full-ish on set off, at about 80% and I just keep it topped up daily.
Takes minutes.

Always keep our tank full as you never know when you can get water next. On our current trip two days running at two different Stellaplatz the services were out of order. Where are now a Stellaplatz in a park in Nuremberg there are no services.

Orange £1 B&Q bucket works for me.
