Looking to buy a life jacket/ flotation jacket thingy and I guess for sea kayaking I need one that I can paddle with comfortably, when I swing my arms I don’t want it rubbing!

Just been out to the shed and guess whatthis is the HB high back version which is a bit cooler in an open canoe and gives plenty of movement in a Kayak, adjustment at the sides and shoulders helps the fit.

I'm a fan of Peak PFD's never used their Wrap PFD's but my friend who runs a Kayak trip company loves his. Also keep an eye on their clearance and sale rails as get some kit bargains.
Or give Sea Kayak Oban a call as they will give you good advice on one to pick from their stock. Tiso is also another option to try a PFD on.

Some of those flogged by amazon have safety recalls a proper outlet with palm and peak is probably a safer option at least you can try them on.

Both Palm and PEAK set up around the time I was quite actively paddling slalom and a bit or surf ski, I remember Pete Astles turning up at events with stuff for paddlers to try out.Peak and palm both U.K. companies and great kit. We’ve got a couple of NRS high back ones as they don't interfere with the kayak seat back. Much more comfortable.

I am in Scotland as well so if you start a conversation with me along with approximately where you live I might be able to suggest a stockist.
I bought my pfd at the Tees Barrage but there are quite a few places around, not necessarily specialist kayak stores, where you can go and try any pfd they have in stock. I've found some harbours have chandlers that carry quite a few useful bits and pieces.
Don't compromise with safety equipment - pay the money and get the best.

I'm not sure if the places I know about / have bought from in the past will be of any use to you as apart from TISO in Perth (ex-Brookbank) most places are far enough away to make it "day out" territory.

I use a Palm Hydro it has pockets for equipment and a rear pouch for a water bladder which I found essential to avoid dehydration, on the sea you can't just splash your face like on a river or lake and if the conditions are rough you can't always reach your water bottle.

Hi thanks everybody, I have bought a Palm meander high back to start with. I only went for it as I could try it on (port Edgar water sports) and it had a pocket for my car key. I thought extra pockets would get in the way (bulkier) but I did wonder about a pocket for a hydration bladder
Anyway if you see a peelywally Scotsman cursing while learning/ wobbling along in a black & whitebCambridge adventure 450…shout some encouragement
PS I found peak pfd s a bit garish

I used to stuff a cycle water bottle down the zip gap for short trips, don't put the top down tight though if you have fizzy inHi thanks everybody, I have bought a Palm meander high back to start with. "hydration bladder" that sounds like a posh name for the 3 litre wine box insert with a plastic pipe and a clothes peg onto my bouyancy aid, mind you that was over 30 years ago, a friend doing the Devizes Westminster race use saline drip bags
, I needed more volume as we were at sea for 29 hours
