Comments on Lebara sim?

Ordered 2 for 2 phones in separate transactions. They seem very efficient, although porting my original number over wont take place until the 12th, which surprised me a bit. Luckily I have a spare phone, so at the moment Lebara sim is in spare phone, and I'll carry both until I know the number is ported
It'll be because of Easter, they usually need at least 1 full working day after the day you request the transfer and they don't tend to count weekends as working days.

There is a funny little glitch some of us have found when arriving in new countries, you often have to reset the APN settings but other than that it’s fine.
Someone else has this! Great, in a way.
I’ve spent a while with Lebara support trying to sort out APN setup oddities.
After a couple of hours they’ve left me to my own solution: -
1) I have the standard Vodafone setup and the intended Lebara settings in a note on my phone.
2) when I arrive at a new EU destination and realise I’m can’t use Mobile data I cut n paste the other settings into place from that Note on my phone.

It doesn’t take me long but it could be a pain for others worth highlighting.

What works for me is I’m using the Vodafone mobile data settings in the UK and Lebara abroad. Then back home I drop in the Vodafone settings.

It seems a random occurrence and lots of Lebara sim owners aren’t effected.
It could be device or account specific 🤷‍♂️

My smartphone= iPhone 13 mini at ios16.4

I have a Lebara sim in my huawei Mifi device . Can you tell me the correct apn settings for France please

For a smartphone: -
Lebara Roaming: -
1. Select "Settings"
2. Select "Mobile Data" and "Mobile Data Network"
3. Scroll to "MOBILE DATA"
4. Select "APN" and enter uk.lebara.mobi
5. Scroll to "MMS"
6. Select "APN" and enter uk.lebara.mobi
7. MMSC: http://mms.lebara.co.uk/servlets/mms
8. No step here. I messed up the count
9. Enter 212.183.137.12:8799
10. Your phone has been configured
11. Note: Switch the phone off and on again

The only difference should be how you get to the mobile data settings.
And some extra ones you’ll not have a place for.

Edit: Lebara have added a device specific help menu here.
It makes it look simpler. 😎

I’m happy with Lebara.
Been with the over a year as a replacement for a company provided & paid for sim.
Had a 5GB deal. Now on a 15GB deal. Both from uswitch.
UK calls and txt are unlimited. Abroad there’s 100min of calls.

Ooops. Forgot costs: 15GB deal is £6.95 per month. Monthly contract.
I am on the same deal but paid only £1.34 per month for the first 6 months through an MSE deal.
I changed from Three as (a) they charge me £2 a day for using the phone abroad and (b) their reception was poor. Vodaphone reception is a bit better and probably best of a bad bunch here.
The switchover went smoothly and haven't had anu issues so its a thumbs up for me.

Don’t thank me so quick!!
In checks I realised my steps are mostly just the changes I need. So the user and password info are missing as they stay the same on each provider.

The full list of settings from Lebara help: -
If you have a smartphone, it should automatically be connected to the internet when you put the Lebara SIM in your phone and switch it on.
If you are facing problem, follow the steps below

Get online Manually

  1. Open up your iPhone’s settings
  2. Go to Mobile, then Mobile Data and switch on
  3. Select Mobile Data Network
  4. Enter the following settings
    • APN: uk.lebara.mobi
    • Username: wap
    • Password: wap
  5. Switch on MMS Messaging in your iPhone’s settings
  6. Select Mobile Data Network and enter the following settings
  7. Restart your iPhone to finish

I then had a French Sim for data and calls out to UK & Europe
You would have been better to keep the French sim going. If i ever moved from here I would leave the dd's running for the spanish numbers

My mate came over through france, portugal & spain earleir in the year paid the £2/day as did his wife . Despite repeated calls to 3 her phone worked for 2 seperate days & his for a total of 13 . That's out of 63 days costing £252 .

Unfortunately both the French (Free.fr) & Spanish (Vodafone) 210Gb sims I have limit data use while roaming just as the UK ones do.

Hi been in coms for over 50 years Lebara uses the Vodafone network so you get the same coverage as that network porting your number over is very easy and usually there is no downtime.

Has anyone been capped at 25 Gb in eu ? The t&c say that and I bought an unlimited data sim

I’ve just had a row with Plusnet about my mobile so I’m leaving them. EE in my area isn’t brilliant , neither is O2, so I want to use Vodafone network. According to Martins Money Saving LEBARA 5Gb sim only is a good deal. Any comments on their service? It will be for phone rather than data specific.
Just out of interest I was with Vodafone for years, when they were a minor subsidiary of Racal. Left when they started charging for customer support.
We have 3 Lebara sims. Ported over number, no problem. Signal here is not great but it can be used via wi_fi and is very clear.

Hi, just switched last week from unlimited calls and data (Asda mobile) to Lebara.

did so because although unlimited data in UK, was a 5GB limit in Europe each month and I’m off for June in Spain. got a Lebara unlimited calls in uk, 100 mins international and 30GB data in UK…also gives me the full 30GB data in basically in Europe as well…£15 instead of £22 A month. Both use the Vodafone network.

changed my old number to the new sim no probs, they said it would be done the next day from 9am and it was done by around 9.30 am. It can take upto 7 days post number transfer to enable the WiFi call function.

I’ve been with Lebara for three years and been great, currently on the 3gb for £5, but wife has just got better deal with Voxi (also Vodafone network) - 30gb for £10!

Nice. Was that direct or by a uswitch type site?

Edit: direct works 🤪
