Well, hit my first ever MH show at Harrogate today and naturally bought all sorts of nonsense I'll probably never fully use however, I was sold on the future being solar, for future trips. Anyone know a instillation company/ individual in the north Yorkshire/ catterick are that they've used before and would again?

A few years ago we used this company for installation of solar in our MH. He came to our house to do it, we are based in West Yorkshire (near Otley) and he would probably come to your area too.

Very pleased with the work he did, and I’m more than happy to recommend him.

Alternatively you could go to Eddie Van Bitz in Taunton, making a weekend of the trip and staying on the Cornish Farm site https://www.vanbitz.com/

Vam Bitz work is second to none and again I’d not hesitate to recommend them.

Rhino doesn’t do mobile work anymore you have to go to his Preston workshop.

ah, the joys of new ways to spend your money !!

seriously, i would suggest you think it through. Solar is designed to provide the means to charge up your batteries (both vehicle and habitation) - if your hab battery is insufficient, then you can have as much solar as you like and it will have very little effect (especially in the UK)

so, for me, your starting point would be to ensure your hab battery was 'more than adequate' for your needs. Depending on how you use your moho, you might be better off putting any investment into greater capacity battery storage (even lithium, but its NOT cheap!) , then its a toss up between solar and a B2B, again after working out if you will be moving around a lot or staying in one place. They both have plus points depending on how you use your motorhome.

i dont know what the answer is in terms of what is best for you, but i do know its best to think things through and try to spend your money wisely (says the man who had four motorhomes in less then four bloody years !)

There are plenty of threads on lithum/solar/B2B etc but i found theres nothing better than actually talking to people on motorhome fun meet ups !

most people are more than happy to show you theirs, if you show them yours ....

I agree entirely with the above comment. The first ‘extra’ I bought for my van was a 2nd leisure battery. This followed a year later with a 100 wt solar panel and the year after that a 2nd solar panel. Solar is great but you need to have sufficient battery power for your needs as the sun doesn’t always shine! Just my opinion however.

Very very sound advice and I thank you for it. On reflection I think Jools and I will see how next months isle of skye goes and learn from that as a start point.
