Paul Merton and Suki hitting the roads again.

I thought we finally agreed, last time this programme was discussed, that it was a bit of harmless fun, watching a pleasant couple enjoying a new experience. A programme not to be taken seriously and with the usual fake situations etc. Will it change the way any of us uses our motor home ? Probably not. If you don't want to watch it there's a little button marked 'Off'. Personally, as a loooong time fan of Paul Merton, I enjoy the programme and am happy he's found a lovely lady to share his life after the sadness of losing his previous wife. Happy New Year to all. Gill.
Each to their own, my friend, each to their own.
Please don’t get me wrong, I too am a fan of Paul Merton, especially some of his fantastic documented work on the life and comedy style of Charlie Chaplin, and deep down I too wish him all the happiness he can have having endured a very personal and traumatic episode.
His wife is also quite funny, but I am sorry to say that for me, this programme is not something that shows them in their best lights of comedy in their own spheres.
Paul Merton is far too clever and quick witted for this.
Just watch him on Have I got news for you or listen to him on just a minute on radio 4.
A very clever man, one I would love to meet.
It’s the programme content and storyboard that I find rubbish, and a shame that the pair have been enticed into a level of “ entertainment” that I feel is below them both.
Only my opinion though, as is yours which I also respect.
🤗

I wish they would spend more time trying to advertise the North because it gets a bit full down here every summer with the North descending South. Perhaps for example, Yorkshire folk could big their County up; I'm sure it's quite nice!

As an avid and enthusiastic motorhomer ……….. crap , terrible TV and I was so wanting it to be good .
That scene with the crab shell being cracked by the van wheel was an all time low for tv , appalling programme , all involved should be ashamed .

Yorkshire is miles better than Cornwall …. FACT.
Went to Cornwall once and that was more than enough .

I guess they need the money just like the rest of us. A particularly ridiculous feature on tonight’s programme was the gadgets to hold a wine glass. I wonder why they would want to waste the money given they had perfectly good glass holders in their camping chairs?

Ex Eastenders actor Adam Woodyatt likes his motorhome

Paul and Suki did drive into some of the sites on tonight’s programme contrary to an earlier post that intimated someone did it for them.
It’s light hearted entertainment about our hobby which I find amusing , no point in rubbishing it and not changing channel.
This is fun remember x:-)

It might save some of us wasting our money on useless gizmos. :xThumb:

But the programme sponsors are southern based, as are the company supplying the motorhome holiday and motorhome.
Yes, the North is very nice and I do believe that in this series they do venture into the Pennines area of Derbyshire.
Personally I would not venture to Cornwall even if I was paid, not because I don’t like it ( I do and have been ) but for me it is just too far for how I wish to use my Motorhome, and at the time I would have to go, it would be horrendously busy.
I much prefer a quieter, less crowded, slower pace of motorhoming and quite like it in our “Northern” bubble 😂.

Cornish resident staying in North Yorks at the moment…. nice pies, decent beer but cold as hell!
What’s wrong with you man!
I am still in shorts and a string vest with this positively tropical northern weather at 8 degrees 😂
Only when it got a bit colder just before Christmas at about minus 3 or 4 and everything was freezing over did I have to put something a little more appropriate on, so got my underpants out!
😜

I think I might have seen you and some of your family out & about locally 😉 Obviously being from Cornwall I don’t wear underpants but a loincloth which I find more comfortable in tropical climates. 👍

….and now I cannot ‘unsee’ that……. o_O o_O o_O

It is gentle entertainment that we'll continue to watch (in the background rather than avidly), I just couldn't resist a dig at the EHU skills :)
I've not seen any of Suki's other work, I'd quite like to see her comedy now; she seems a much sharper wit than Paul at least on this show. He does seem a little flat on this, perhaps it's just his fairly dry style that works well in game show formats isn't quite as suited to a travelogue - maybe it's just the comparison to her.

Senseatianlist TV my friend, playing to the masses.
Just take it your stride and if you feel so inclined, start ripping the p..s out of it in a humorous way that shows just how ridiculous the programme is and just exactly half far away from motorhoming reality it really is.
That’s what I do.
Just look at my daft and ridiculous critique when Strictly Come Dancing was on.
But it was such a laugh.........😂
And no-one got reported for anything. 🤗

OK, I will have to give the other view, I went to Yorkshire once and that was once too many. However, very glad you do not wish to come back here, because that will be one less person clogging up our roads, and the longer you can keep the myth going that Yorkshire is nicer than Cornwall the better. ::bigsmile:

The main problem for me is that Yes!, I might be drawn in by a particular presenter or subject, but as soon as I see its on Channel 5 then its a no no! 20 minutes of actual content to have to put up with 20/25 minutes of adverts, then of course being Channel 5 the "Text Competition" to win a weeks holiday plus a cash sum to pay for the damn thing.
I ask myself, then the wife, even the cat, how the hell do they expect viewers to maintain interest and to sit through this crap, so many advert breaks.
Its bad enough if you tape these programs, you spend so much time winding forward to skip adverts, finger on the trigger remote buttons that you would probably be best playing computer games in getting it stop/start at the appropriate millisecond.
If its Channel 5, their format is too boring, and life is too short for me.(n)
