3 years ago when buying our current van I had the dilemma of satellite or data. A fit and forget satellite system would have come in at up to £2k, although cheaper variants are available, plus we don't do Sky. A 3/4g hard wired WiFi system was less than a quarter of that professionally fitted. A couple of years previous to this we used a hand held mifi with a 3 Internet With Legs 24g SIM card which worked well in Spain during the winter so that was the clincher so we chose WiFi and data. Technology doubles every 2 years (?) and now data is so cheap that even our WiFi system is virtually redundant. With big phone data packages we can listen to any radio station, in my case Blues Connection, while out the road and watch any TV station that's on-line in the evening through an Amazon Firestick - it's brilliant and so easy.

I use Vodafone unlimited data, calls & text no cap on download speeds.
Minimum download speed i have had is 18mb and max 140mb.... Cost £28.80 a month but i use it for all my calls at home and away and also tether to my phone as a hotspot to stream Netflix etc, on a firestick when in Van.

I decided on Sky. 1 phone has 8gb and the other 3gb both on rollover £13 pm for both.

What about your data cap?
I have a Smarty unlimited sim which costs £20 pm, however, the data cap is 19gb/month outside the U.K.
And don’t forget the possible end of roaming at the end of the year? I suppose we’ll just have to buy foreign data sims when abroad?

Same deal but £25.50. 18 months deal. 15% plan discount plus a pound protection thingy, so £26.50.

I’m on the same with Vodafone, but I think allowance is capped when out of the UK.

O2 has no cap abroad, I was told. :gum:

I agged the price down to £20/mth which buys me unlimited minutes & texts, does anyone still use many texts, and 100g data.

Vodafone unlimited everything £15 a month (cashback deal as should be £26), limited to 15gb a month abroad I think, whereas the 100gb one has unlimited usage abroad ... go figure!

There also another company who do deals too so check them out as sometimes they beat the above's deals:

I have a 3 MIFI with unlimited data for £22 per month, however it is capped to 25gb when abroad which of course they failed to point out when I got it...…...
