When the sat nav is built into the vehicle dash original equipment, how does one update it.

you usually buy a disc or memory card with the latest updates from the manufacturer IIRC.

Might be something on eBay?

Might be a USB socket somewhere, or even a SD socket.

Seen a Skoda that had an SD card slot in the glovebox for updates.

Becker have a module in the glove box on Mercs which has a pull out thingy that plugs into a pc with a mini USB lead.

On our Autotrail we had a memory card that you could remove and update on your computer.

Mine has the ability to plug a dongle with a sim card in and do it direct from the internet, not tried it tho.

My Kenwood system you had to buy a disc etc. I thought I am not doing that all the time at about £70 a time so bought a new sat nav with life time updates. (y)

Hi Terry , on my car its an extra 85 Pounds and its done via a cd disc but on my brothers its an sd card which can be updated via computer at home.

I think that you will find it will depend on the make of your car/motorhome and what satnav they use.
What do you have?

Hi,It's a Fiat motorhome with tomtom sat nav 2018model
Sorry not familiar with Tom Tom. Mine is Garmin and it was very straightforward to update the maps (and free)

You need to get a memory stick. There is a USB port and aux socket below the radio, just above the cup holders. Plug stick into USB and turn tomtom on. This will prepare the memory stick. When finished plug into the computer and it should get the updates from tomtom. Might need to install the tomtom software on computer first.
