Just tried it thanks but no good so it needs to be unzipped. Are you sure you need to extract it? It could just be the firmware binary which you need to install to the snipe using some software or other.
If you right-click on the file does it give you an "Open With" option and "Archive Utility.app" from the list of options?Just tried it thanks but no good so it needs to be unzipped.
Tried that to start with :-( Thatalso creates another zipped bin file with cpgz at the end.If you right-click on the file does it give you an "Open With" option and "Archive Utility.app" from the list of options?
If so, do that into a folder of the same name as the bin file.
If you right click that file and run Archive Utility does it convert it back to a bin or zip or zip.cpgz file?Tried that to start with :-( Thatalso creates another zipped bin file with cpgz at the end.
Another one bites the dust but thx
I don't think its corrupt. I had the same hassle last time with MacBook, and my neighbour opened it with his windows pc in seconds. If you right click that file and run Archive Utility does it convert it back to a bin or zip or zip.cpgz file?
If so, the file is probably corrupt.
Are you able to check the MD5 or SHA-1 of the file? Did Avtex give you that?

Is it definitely a MacBinary file and not a Windows executable BIN file? If your neighbour opened it in Windows the last time I'm reckoning on it's the latter.I don't think its corrupt. I had the same hassle last time with MacBook, and my neighbour opened it with his windows pc in seconds.
See my last image of what happens.
Just sent you a pm.
No it won't upload here. How big is the file? Can you upload it to the files section on the forom then someone with a PC could unzip it for you.
Macbinary archive file it says.Is it definitely a MacBinary file
As you only need to unzip the file and put it in the root directory of the flash drive. Can you unzip a standard windows zip file on a Mac, if so just download the zip file from the SelfSat website.
Macbinary archive file it says.
The file I want to open is update.bin...which I can't .I'm convinced that's the firmware file and not a Mac archive file. If you go to the firmware download page - - and download the upgrade file, you get a zip file, which when unzipped gives a file called fwupdate.bin
Oh, OK. It just looks like it's called fwupdate.bin from your screenshots. I'm sure you don't need to open it on your Mac. If it's not working as is, then it's probably corrupt. The file I want to open is update.bin...which I can't .
I've checked the MD5 for Sandra and it's OK.Oh, OK. It just looks like it's called fwupdate.bin from your screenshots. I'm sure you don't need to open it on your Mac. If it's not working as is, then it's probably corrupt.

Ive just tried it yet again and it just does not run. It knows the usb is connected and goes into upgrade mode but then hangs, ...cos it can't read the zip I guess.I've checked the MD5 for Sandra and it's OK.
I've also said just to copy the file into the root of a USB and it should run but Sandra says it doesn't. Any other ideas?
I've sent you the page in the manual highlighted where is says just copy it.No its definitely not corrupt. @Gellyneck has opened it.
