Could you look at photos and see what's we have missing then because we were not given any bleach receiver box this is all we have with it & remote controlNothing to do with the Snipe that is your satellite tuner, get a decent tuner like an Icecrypt and all will be fine
The Snipe satellite receiver doesn't come with a satellite tuner. We use our Avtex tv which has an inbuilt free to air satellite tuner. Some may use an additional external (to the tv) satellite tuner per @Lenny HB above, others may use a Sky tuner with or without a paid for subscription.Could you look at photos and see what's we have missing then because we were not given any bleach receiver box this is all we have with it & remote control
Our Cello TV has a built in sat tunner it is OK if you only ever use one satellite but if you change satellites it's a pain, takes 20-30 mins to tune in and looses favorites and previous sat settings. Bought a Icecrypt S1600CHD very good bit of kit, once you have tuned to a satellite it retains the settings and your favorites, two usb ports for recording. The Snipe satellite receiver doesn't come with a satellite tuner. hardly twice the price, the snipe was an extra £80 rather than buy from Germany and then there was £99 for the fixing mount from red apple.A lot more money , but as you say it gives you peace of mind... for almost twice the price just to have the avtex label on doesn't sit easy with.me for a unit that's made in in Indonesia no matter who supplies it .
No it hasent got S, does this mean it's not receiving efficiently? ThanksThe satellite receiver is (probably) in the Avtex TV - it depends on the model. Does it have an 'S' in the model number? ( e.g. 186 DRS). If so, look in the Avtex manual - it should explain how to update the channel list, etc.
This is the AC ADAPTERNo it hasent got S, does this mean it's not receiving efficiently? Thanks
I don't think your tv has a satellite tuner, so it can't receive a satellite signal from your Snipe. If this is the case, you will need to buy a satellite tuner, such as the Icecrypt referenced earlier. No it hasent got S, does this mean it's not receiving efficiently? Thanks
Yes I hear what you say but the snipe is. Built in Korea no matter what label is on it .and i think £200 for the warranty is far too. Much.hardly twice the price, the snipe was an extra £80 rather than buy from Germany and then there was £99 for the fixing mount from red apple.
you pay your money and you make you choices, extra £200 for using a company with second to none customer services, I'm happy

Yes, you're correct. Guess why us Scots guys have sporrans? They're not just to keep certain anatomical parts warm!Yes but it's only money, and there are no pockets in a shroud
No unfortunately it doesn't say that.I don't think your tv has a satellite tuner, so it can't receive a satellite signal from your Snipe. If this is the case, you will need to buy a satellite tuner, such as the Icecrypt referenced earlier.
If you select the "Source" button on your TV, do you see any reference to "Satellite TV" similar to the attached extract from an Avtex manual for an "S" model?

The Icecrypt SC1600CHD comes with remote, a mains adaptor I just cut it off and wired it to my 12v supply as works off 12v, altough listed as an extra it comes with the IR extender, can't remember if it comes with an HDMI lead but depending where you are mounting it a 1 m one in Pounland will do the job. If needed you can buy very slim leads on eBay for a few quid I think I paid about £4 for a slim 3m lead.No unfortunately it doesn't say that.
If I get one of those receivers is that it or do I need to get additional things like remotes leads etc ? It's only showing the black receivers in write up ?

if you decide to get a tv with inbuilt sat receiver ,I can recommend the cello ,as it also has bluetooth and DVD and various useful inputs ,and of course it' looks almost identical to the expensive Avtex which does not have blue tooth etc.No unfortunately it doesn't say that.

Can someone give me a list of what's in the box please.
I want to make sure it's all there.
I'm looking at buying a snipe 2 for our van, the cost seems to have risen quite considerably in the last 6 months but I've sent an email to a German company who are selling them for the equivalent of £575.00 when converted from euros, I guess that postage etc will bump it up a fair bit though.

And so thanks to the funsters helpfulness I am almost the proud owner of a 2nd hand snipe.
What is the receiver thing I need now to make it work with my non sat Avtex 163WDR. OR does the Autotrail drop down tv work ?
