Hello everyone
Thinking of taking the Motorhome to visit the D Day landing areas of northern France. Has anyone done similar and can you recommend particular areas to stay Aires etc.

We did this many years ago, one of our first trips in a motorhome. France does a magnificiant job of preserving history and the D Day beaches are no exception. Some amazing museums and good motorhome parking at many if not all places you would want to visit. Enjoy.

We did it in September last year. We use campsites but saw plenty of aireā€™s around. We started off at Honfleur then crossed the Pegasus Bridge and there is an Aire close to the bridge on the beachfront.

We drove the beaches to Arromanches then came inland to camp in Bayeux. From here we drove out up to the American cemetery and drove south along the beaches again to Arromanches. A full day seeing the history in Bayeux was great too.

We tried but failed to get parked at Arromanches but had no problems anywhere else in a 6.4m pvc

From there we went to camp at Falsise (gap) before heading off towards Mont St Michelle

All noted thankyou. Popping over for a few weeks early Sept after the June memorial security lockdown with all the politicos jostling for publicity! Cruised through many moons ago on a 750 and tent with now wife! Looking forward to doing the area properly!

Sainte-MĆØre-Ɖglise is a nice town to visit with a museum and plenty of eating places. There is also a campsite in the town, which when I stayed there was run by a lovely couple. There is also a micro brewery near the camp site, if you like anything like that.

Most of the places are motorhome friendly and there are aires all along that stretch of coast.

We go most years and are there again this year. However being the 80th anniversary all sites are already fully booked. There is a big aire on top of the cliffs just outside Arromanche and one in the centre of town but you will need to get there early to have a chance of finding a space.
