Hi Funsters,
Hopefully someone will give me some advice on a stopover site en route to Como in Switzerland.
The route I'm taking will be mainly on the A2 towards the Gottard Tunnel.
I don't need to go as far as that so anywhere Basel or Laucen areas..
👍😊

I just checked, Tesco includes Switzerland.
As of next year they'll be no free roaming from any network providers apparently...

On and off for many years.
We stopped here

46.14059020261769, 8.906502908921054

Camping area Tamaro, Rivera.

Charges are by the hour so don't go in too soon - Rivera itself is only about 3 km away so you can park there and do any shopping you wish before going to the site.

There is a fuel station and cafe next to the camping area and a lot of walking trails nearby. Spotlessly clean and all required services available.

We stopped there twice, once on the way south and again on the way home.

We passed through the Gothard tunnel Sunday afternoon we were queuing for 1 and a half hrs
Due to volume of traffic
I don’t know if that’s normal
They use a traffic light system letting several cars at a time through
Makes sense but you may time you passing through with busy time in mind and avoiding stop start all the time

Was it Boris that promised this would never happen ?

Are there any EU based providers that will supply a PAYG SIM card to UK based people?
Where it can be sent to you in the UK (or picked up at the port)

I've now bought a 2nd hand duplicate WiFi unit so that I can have a UK SIM and a EU SIM device, I simply swap one for the other and the settings in each do not have to be mucked about with.

I just need to find a EU based PAYG SIM provider.
Ideally in France or Holland as that is where the Ferries go.

Since the 90's
Not too far off the A2, we used to use the stellplatz at Willisau quite a lot on regular trips down to Ancona, used to be 5 Chf but now gone up to 15Chf but still relatively cheap for Switzerland.
Payment used to be by honesty box but I believe you pay by card now.

Coords are 47.11909 7.99819

There was a lot promised by the Tories in support of Brexit.
I assume that the same will apply to foreign nationals coming over here. With the exception of those on rubber dinghys who get free SIM cards to call their mates once bought ashore..😁

Thanks for the heads up. I have thought about using the pass instead. We would probably be there mid morning on a Monday...
