Was last in the area in 2016 and stayed at Ramatuelle which was little more than a car park where you paid on entry at a kiosk and was next to a beautiful beach so we are heading in that direction and would like to give it another look but on search for sites and park 4 night there is nothing in the whole st tropez area all the aiers book says last visited 2016 and its there of course, anybody been around there in recent times?

Since about year 2000
According to Campingcar-infos, the aire at Ramatuelle was closed from October and was due to open early last month. There is no indication about it being still closed. However, there was a comment written in June of last year saying that he was one of only a few camping cars there, suggesting that people were staying away following a cost increase to €17 plus taxe de sejour of €0.60 per person.

I have just checked the council web site and the tariff is now €20, not including taxe de sejour.

Pilote87 Thank-you for your very comprehensive reply, I think we will have a couple of nights there as my wife found it to be quite special the last time, also the eye watering fee won't be such a shock!
And yes one does get the impression of the area being motorhome unfriendly.

Absolute beginners.
We were there last year and it was undergoing extensive renovations. Automated entry etc. IF your lucky you get to see wild boar around the huge bamboo areas.
Le Playa Negra, that may still be open. And there's the another camp site €40 right across the bay from St Tropez.

Mike.

It’s still off season at Ramatuelle! It doubles in season! I can’t believe you think 20 Euros plus tax is eye watering for that site in its location right on the beach with water, grey and toilet dump and there was a beach restaurant between it an the beach when we were there.

I assumed it was a tongue in cheek comment.

Right on one of the most famous beaches in Europe.

We haven’t been to that region since 2018 but then it was the most motorhome unfriendly area we have found outside of the U.K.
We used to stay at

Domaine des Naïades.

We took our children there many years in Eurocamp/Keycamp stays.

Then for years we took our motorhome.

But the new owners stopped all the touring and filled it with static caravans. Prices are eye watering now.

First time we stayed on that site 1992, , we paid £450 for 3 weeks late august early September , including Dover - Calais (No tunnel then).

We were there last year, but on a campsite, which we had used before, staying on the non beach part as there is much less road noise, prebooked over 60 and stayed for 7 oor 7+ nights, was less per night than the nearby aire.
Having said that it was too long, and though we knew prices would be high we were still shocked, 2 tiny cups of coffee, not espresso E12.50
Had steak tartare at the campsite restaurant, had always wanted to try it, it was delicious but would have fed both of us, best value in the south of France, campsites beer was reasonable, on the non beach bar, was a bit much by the sea.
Do love the area, but doubt we will go back unless we win the lottery, 🤔 better start doing it 🤣

St Tropez was the first place I went on holiday to, aged 15.

I used to love it but we have moved on now, it’s too expensive
