This was a new one for us on Saturday as we hadn’t needed to check the pets in from UK to France before (the other way always) Cost us a bit of unplanned time but all OK in the end. As we haven’t been through the tunnel since 2019 due to Covid when was this introduced ? Must have missed it in all the recent changes.

Just curious.

Is this the Animal Health Certificate (AHC) that was introduced some time ago, or is it a new requirement in addition to an AHC?

It's basically the same check you have done when coming back to the UK. Its a passport check or ahc check to make sure the dog matches the paperwork. It wasn't required before we left the eu but it is now

What happens is that you have to check in at the pet passport building. You have to park in the terminal car park and take your dogs to the pet passport building. You get your tickets there now once they have scanned and checked your dogs documents.

I'm assuming you know about the requirement when travelling from EU into UK, that a worming tablet must be administered by a vet, certified, and a time delay of 24 hours is required, and the certificate lasts for 5 days. You can get the worming tablet done anywhere, it doesn't have to be a Channel port.

You may need to shop around. When we tried one vet in Saumur, they didn't seem know anything, wanted return ferry tickets and other stuff. We found another a few streets away that was welcoming, and did the whole thing without batting an eyelid.

After brexit. So 2021

Makes sense:giggle: the Covid period kept us away and hence we’ve missed this minor change in the process. It came up on the screen at check in just after I’d said “at least this way we don’t have to check the dogs in” hence panic mode set in and what have we missed or what piece of paper haven’t we got this time…. But all was good and no issues at all. And as someone mentioned above seems a good idea to know who or what you have on board(y)

Just a chip scan and validation it seemed. We hadn’t had a vet health check or anything else before crossing South.
