Got an email yesterday from RWG. They will soon be offering a data only 'Flexi SIM' that is set up to roam across the four UK networks and use the best one for your location. No clue as to the price, but may be of interest to folk who like to roam in the more remote areas.

Also - their uncapped 200GB roaming has been dropped to 100GB when out of the UK, they blame their roaming partners.

I got the email, it will be interesting to see what the tariff will be.
I think the 100gb roaming still isn’t that bad.

Way better than the 25GB cap on Vodafone at £30 a month I had. Use the RWG SIM instead now. (Turns out EE coverage is pants where I live).

It'll probably not use EE's band 20 frequency, which has the best rural coverage. They pretty much keep it to themselves.

Just spoken to RWG about this, they are now saying it is likely to be new year before this is available, but also as it is a data only sim it will not have EU roaming........

Got a "roam in 40 countries" data sim from RWG ....what a huge mistake , both the sim and the cowboys at RWG , totally useless. Ended up tethering my phone with its ID Mobile sim, which worked flawlessly.

Alas after being a big fan of RWG I have dumped the global SIM.

Lucy is in Canada and it wouldn’t work at all, tried all the APN’s. I emailed them Friday and they emailed back Tuesday asking me to try it now. Bit pointless as she already picked up an eSIM by then. That’s the third time it’s not worked abroad and my patience has ran out.

Wish me luck in getting it cancelled. 😞

Even after I cancelled my contract , RWG kept taking money from my account . It was a real battle to get this stopped and they still owe me a month's subscription from a year ago, they won't reply to emails either . I've given up now, lesson learned.

I'm using ID Mobile, both in my phone and in the MiFi, until I reached the 30Gb roaming allowance. Although neither was suspended for exceeding that allowance, I am now using a Spanish Lebara 100Gb sim for €15 a month. All whizz along a treat on the best 4G network available. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

If your Id mobile deal was taken out before last June, you can now use for your full allowance roaming.

We use whomever is the best. Currently RWG. We're away in Spain and it came to the 100gb cap. I rang them and they added more data for free for the final days in the month. To tie us over.

Just entering our 7th week away in France / Spain and RWG phone sim with 100gb roaming in the mifi working just fine. Sometimes I have to hunt for the fastest network but no issues streaming iplayer etc if needed. Both our phones are also on RWG and also working perfectly.
Strange how people have such different experiences with them, after a rocky start they have been great value for us and without issues.

Thanks for that info. (y)
I have just checked my sim account for the MiFi, and it turns out that I joined on 11th May 2023.

The phone sim card was purchased in August, so under the 30Gb roaming ruling.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Jock your MiFi is fine then as pre-June so you can use your full allowance (Unrestricted) in Europe, unlike your mobile as you said is capped @ 30gb. Nothing stopping you sharing MiFi with mobile if you run short on data, or just use a lap top whilst in van and your moby dick while you're out n about 🤷‍♂️

Yes, got that hanks Sammy. :)

I was half expecting to be notified of not complying with their "Fair Usage Policy" as the sim doesn't get the battering in the UK, that it is getting out here in Spain. ;)

The monthly rollover of unused data is brilliant. It renewed today, so I've got 136Gb to play with. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Ha ! Ha ! Yes the rollover is Ace, so make sure you give it a
rollicking, especially when you at the end of the month, as in renewal as it doesn't alway's rollover if data not being used !
Enjoy your streaming, and get on Netflix as that will rattle through data 🤣

Regards Sammy . . .
