Hi all,

Please could someone remind me which company was used and recommended fairly recently to bring a van back from France (I think it was france) to the UK after breaking down?

I’ve searched and searched and cannot find the original thread. We think it might have been someone in Portsmouth but not 100% sure.

TIA

Hi Ven

My friends van was recovered earlier this month.
There is a thread I started, looking for advice. There were some recommendations given.

I dont recall the name of the company she used, but can get it for you if needed. She broke down just outside Santander. The clutch failed.
Repatriation was £3k plus vat, but that included a £500 discount, because they managed yo get 2 motorhomes on the low loader.

Sorry to hear this is needed.

Thank you - I have reread that entire thread but thought there was another company not mentioned.

Of course that could be a false memory 😬

Yes it is there 👍

Hi

We broke down in Malaga last year and our van was towed to Granada. We didn't know if the breakdown cover would repatriate vehicle. The best quote I got to repatriate our 7 mtr Hymer from Granada to Dartford was with a Company in Warrington. They quoted £4590.

Contact details are.

our breakdown cover eventually came through and when I asked for all the costs to he broken down. The recovery cost £5237. They recovered as it would have taken a garage too long to look at. Garage in Granada quoted a month for diagnosis. Our return crossing was booked for 3 weeks later.

It’s dad’s van unfortunately. He broke down on 7th April and it’s dragged in on since then. He’s just trying to weigh up his options now.
Sorry to hear that.I can't believe that they haven't found the problem yet?. Wouldn't the breakdown company recover it if nothing is getting done in France yest?

Hi Ven

Firstly when we broke down in Spain we contacted Derek at Crouch. He quoted us £11k plus vat for recovery from Granada. Warrington shipping Co quoted us £4,590 inc vat. They were exceedingly helpful. Our insurance eventually repatriated us.

Try contacting Julie White

I would think they deal with France as well.

Sorry to hear this. My friend had exactly the same difficulty. That's why she decided to just bite the bullet and get it home. Particularly as it is an old van, and not worth a great deal. They were talking about potential write off, and her paying up front for the garage to quote.
All very stressful.
