I posted this (response to someone who had a bad experience with Popit) on another forum but thought it might also be of interest here.

Sometimes it's necessary to give praise where it's due.

- - -

I have just returned from Portugal & Spain having used the popit 100 Gb. It has been perfect.

I used a few Gb (just a few) in the UK before leaving to ensure compliance, and it has since renewed 3 times whilst we've been away. It's never failed to connect wherever we've been, and we've always been able to use the full 100 Gb allowance.

I've been back in the UK for 2 days and have once again used a few Gb (again just a few) and I can now pause it without problem - ie. have achieved re-compliance.

---

I know that Popit are extremely vague about compliance and re-compliance, but I can only report my experience, and I would certainly not hesitate to use Popit again.

Is there another UK sim card which gives 100 Gb roaming?

We too have Popit and have had a similar experience, been very impressed. Heading off again and been in touch with Popit just to check that there will be no issues and been reassured just to login and re-start our 100gb plan.

Just a tad..
We have been with Popit for 18 months now. We are both (Mrs Carpmart and I) on 30gb plans as it’s a phone data service for us, as we have Starlink for the heavy lifting..

We are in month seven of a nine month EU tour and it’s been working perfectly with great 5G service in most major cities. We did pop home for Christmas (after four months) and when home used mobile data as opposed to connecting to home broadband, just to bump up UK usage and remain compliant with roaming policy.

Highly recommended by us two too! ✔️

I have my MH router on Popit and OK but Mrs funflairs phone was on 1gb per month as a low user, Popit said that she had to use more than 1gb per month to be 100% compliant, I am not convinced that they even understand their own terms and conditions but long story short they gave her 10gb to use to get in compliance so that she could leave so now on Smarty.

We have the 100gig deal for our wifi in the van. First long trip last year I had to pay an extra month when we returned to get compliance before we could put it on hold.

On our second long trip, we used it over here for 4 days, gained compliance. We were abroad for 6 weeks. When we returned, we still had 100% compliance and we were just a few days from the end of the month so we put it on hold. Worked nicely so we were very pleased.
Reactivation is easy too and very fast so thumbs up from here.

I agree, been using it in our router for a couple of years. We have had 2 long trips to Greece and all over Spain a few times with no problems. Even used it at home when Virgin failed!

So what is the compliance people talk about?
They advised me 5gb use in the UK achieves compliance. Downloaded a couple of films, job done, 100% compliance achieved and account paused until next trip.

This in our mifi, along with 25gb each on our O2 phone contracts meets our needs quite well.

Is there another UK sim card which gives 100 Gb roaming?

I believe the 200GB data card from RWG still gives 100GB in EU. £20.

Edit: Just checked - sadly down to 20GB now. Thats from 200 last year, down to 100 and now down to 20!!

The good thing about Popit is (I believe) that you can 'pause' the SIM for a low fee when you don't need it.

But to meet their 'fair use' terms, you have to use it in the UK before AND after you come back from continental Europe.

I presume there is an app, or online account, which shows the status.

Is the 5GB UK use every month, 3 month or whatever?

As written above, sorry forgot to quote!
I asked what this meant when I rang their customer services. I don't know the in's and out's but basically, it's to do with it being a British company for use in Britain. She left it at that assuming I'd understand. (I didn't)

Yes, there is. IQ Go have full 100gb roaming at £20 per month. 3 month renewal maximum before returning to the UK.

People have reported its now down to 20 Gb roaming?

And 90 days per year?

Maybe I'm wrong - I usually am 😁
