Payload on Pilote Evidence spec? (1 Viewer)

We're thinking of downsizing to below 3500 kg (I've done the treadmill test once!) and one possibility is a Pilote 696D. The Evidence spec looks a very good deal, but I notice that the quoted 520kg payload is the same as for the Expression spec - so, unless they've found a way to make awnings, solar panels etc weightless, it looks like you need to take the weight of the Evidence extras off the quoted payload. (And yes, I know claimed payloads are not always accurate anyway!)

I did find a technical listing with the additional weights of some (but not, I think, all) of the extras included, although I can't now find it on Pilote's rather "eccentric" website. But is there anyone with a Pilote Evidence who has taken it on a weighbridge and found the real world payload?

If it’s of any use to anyone else, with a data sheet (for the 2023 models) I make the net weight of Evidence spec add-ons 149kg.

Just about to up plate our G740 from 3650kgs to 3920kgs. With full tank of fuel, water and 2 gas bottles we are about 75kg over weight. If you look at Pilote spec the payload is based on 75kg driver, 25ltrs of water. No mention of food, clothes or passengers.

Pilote have a bit of a reputation for rolling off the production line a bit heavier than the catalogue suggested.

If you are going to fit an awning and other extras and you like to travel with water I always reckon you need 700kg of payload.

Was very straight forward, I used van weight engineering.

We have a 2020 G740C Sensation in order to up-plate to 4000kgs i had to have rear air fitted. Front springs and wheels/tyres okay from standard. But that's as much as we can obtain. (Have towbar & E & P Levelling fitted) Plus bike rack and awning. Have been to weighbridge with everything on board we are 3960kgs. And i mean everything except water.

No need for the new springs. But they do raise the front by about 40mm, saves the need for ramps most of the time.

Great van, 9 speed auto is a dream. It on the Fiat Heavy Chassis, as for a towbar. Mike Parkinson in Preston £675. He will even loan you a car while he fits the towbar.

Cheapest quote I have for a towbar on a 8065 is 850 bar and 13 pin electrics or 1k if it needs tha corner reinforcers on the chassis

Mike fitted mine and installed chassis extensions £675 all. That was last April so may have gone up a little.
I did have one quote for £1795, no idea where they got that from as a towbar and extensions from towtrust were only about £850.

thanks ,,i would be happy if it was £675 my current van has a tow bar that i removed i never removed the electrics ,,there are metal legs, that it was attached to the rear hangers, are these extensions ? are they ok to remove do you know ?
