I'm with caravanguard and that went up substantially, I did manage to get it down a bit but to they said increases were across the board with every provider.

Apparently, and from what I read on a regular basis Steve, they are all robbing barstewards at it. :(
No doubt we'll experience the same, when our 3 x year policy agreement is up. :(
I never sign up to these "auto renew" policies now, unless it's a "no price increase" agreement.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Our NFU has just come in for Moho and car. It has gone up £23 for the pair. I can manage that of I raid the piggy bank. 😆
I will be calling them tomorrow to ask for justification of a £500 increase 🤬

Interesting reading on here - Ive had an LV direct joint mh & car policy for the last 3 years . Last year it was £440 - this year the renewal quote is £667 & like Steve, nothing has changed!

I was planning on ringing NFU tomorrow but not expecting much from reading other posts.

My NFU contact apologised policy went up £35. But made a point of saying it was the smallest increase he has seen recently in bigger or higher priced MH (ours being a big but old RV). He said there was a likely new ceiling limit on MH cover of £125,000??? Can't recall exact amount.
Reduced exposure.

Our NFU only went up marginally. Have they added some extra cover to it that you havent noticed? Or are the value or miles correct?

Few years now
Think most companies are increasing premiums this year due to the claims they had last year. Our comfort insurance was up £40 on last year when i renewed last week.

Some surveys show premiums have gone up on average by around 40% this year. This is blamed on a combination of the increased cost of spare parts, cost of energy, staff costs and hire (courtesy) car costs plus a few other things.

OK having now spoken to NFU they had advised us to increase our our cover last December at a cost of around £300 that I had overlooked so not as large an increase as I thought,
so the actual cost has gone from £960 to £1,190 so we can live with that👍

Starting to understand
I wanted to stay with NFU this year but the premium jumped to over £1000 from just £500, so went with LV for just over £500. No doubt about it you have to shop around!!!

That’s eye-wateringly high. I think ours is about £350. We might live in different risk areas and have MHs that are vastly different in value (I guess), but it does seem very high.

My regular cover with Safeguard went up a whole £14. Interesting as the actual insurance claim I had in 2019 (for over £6k damage) was paid out by LV!

Just tried LV Jim £610 for both but no valuation on there for the van 😳
Best to phone them Steve. But most of thiercquotes seem to be based on the base vehicle type no matter what's on top of the chassis. I think there is slso a limit on windscreens so for an A class I would check that out. Thier windscreen excesses are higher than most and they do advise that replacements can affect future premiums.
Best of luck.

Just done that Jim and they said no limit on windscreen also they value at current market value ? Whatever that means,
also been back on to NFU and asked for a new quote but £10 k less on value wow £400 saving on the first renewal quote. 🙂

We're with Safeguard.
Just received their renewal quote for the end of the month and it will rise from £405 last renewal to £418 this time. Remember this includes European Breakdown cover.

I was actually considering looking elsewhere as I have just opened a Nationwide FlexPlus account, (primarily for the Travel Insurance element) and as that will also give me European Breakdown, I thought that perhaps it was worth looking for a non breakdown inclusive Motorhome Insurance.

However, I am happy with Safeguard as they looked after us well when our previous MH was written off in Spain in 2016 and in view of some accounts of breakdowns abroad, it might be worth having 2 lots so Breakdown cover!

So I'll let both run this year and then reappraise.

Blame all those electric car fires?

seriously not defending, but car repair costs have gone up substantially over the last couple of years, thus the knock on effect.

My policy for my car went down this renewal with NFU, now less than £200 including breakdown home start. Great price but even better, they are wonderful to deal with, no online rubbish, download your certificate palaver like others.

All details sent prompt through the post, when I wrote my previous car off they were brilliant, arrange pick up and a courtesy car the following day, wonderful service.

Cheapest is not always the best, more to it than cost🤔🤔

Exactly, Caz was with one of those cheap online firms, she had an accident earlier this year, what a nightmare trying to get things sorted, from start to finish

They even had her ringing around herself to try and find a repair garage🤣, I was shaking my head in disbelief, she was constantly having to ring the insurance company for an update, it’s was well over a month before it was taken there, the garage forgot to MOT before it came out so had to go back.

Disaster from start to finish, she’s now learnt her lesson, sometimes cheap no good.

NFU it was so smooth and professional and quick, I was paid out in a few days, contact from them throughout.

As an aside her claim cost another £100 for the Motorhome insurance renewal ( AIB insurance) from the quote given, before they knew of her claim.
