Are there any Funsters contemplating a casual meet on the Mosel/Rhine this Autumn.

We had a lovely two weeks there in 2018 before serious illness of a family member had us hurtling home.

I have a desire to go back. We had a fabulous two weeks.

Whats happened to Snowbird? he was the main go to guy on The Mosel, he camped out every summer and welcomed many a Funster to camp alongside him. I hope and prey he is OK, may have missed some news since Covid lockdowns, or maybe the 90/180 rule has screwed him up?, if anyone knows please update.

To my knowledge he's not well enough to be travelling at the moment, SnowbirdChick will have the latest.

Cheers
Red.

Fantastic place to be at that time of year. We’re really like the Stellplatz at Wintrich. The cycle path is a beauty and the boats make travelling up and down a cinch. At the end of September last year there was a cold snap with mist and little sun for about a week. Temperature was about 8c at midday.
There was a great wine festival at Piesport. Music, dancing, food and a little wine. Once finished with the Mosel Tal head South towards Bad Durkheim. Loads of beautiful Weinguts.

I'm not suggesting a typical Funster Rally/meet.

As mentioned, Funsters went to the Mosel independenty and there was an ongoing thread that could indicate, ie "We're at????? It's a good stelplatz" etc.

As said Snowbird was the man but it isn't a formal rally. You turn up at a stelplatz and look out for the Fun sticker.

Am afraid to say I have not been up to par recently, a hedonistic lifestyle seems to have caught up with me finally. Am not quite ready for the glue factory as yet, so am flying up to Sweden on Tuesday to help with the midsummers day festivities. If I recover from that I hope to be on the Mosel in August.

We’ve just had 4 weeks wandering up and down the Mosel between Cochem and Trier. Lovely area never tire of it. 😎😎

This thread has got me excited as we plan to go there for a week in October, not sure about the area so have no plan except to follow Route 53 along the Mossel and see what takes our fancy, I've heard Eltz Castle is a must-see.

We plan to head to the Mosel late August for a month, we usually settle in Reil for a week or two. Mind you if the weather doesn’t pick up there we may need to look elsewhere. I read today that someone had gotten fed up with the rain and now headed to the south of France.

We normally end up coming back and staying around the Mosel most trips away.
In May I just drove following the river and came across some nice little villages, surprising how many campsites there are along the river heading up to Luxembourg.

Still not decided where we are going end of the month as will keep an eye on the weather although I don’t want it to hot🥵

That’s all I’m saying as loose lips lose things 🤔🤔

Only been to Germany once & after 3 days of very wet weather returned to France but do intend to try again. We haven’t got the ACSI book this year, if we decide to try Germany this September/October would it be a good idea to try & source one or are there plenty of Stellplatz.

We will be in Bernkastle Kues for the 5 day wine festival, arriving 1st/2nd September. Lots of interesting stuff to do and see. It’s one of the most popular wine festivals. If anyone is interested in this, they should get working on somewhere to stay as we found out today that the Knaus site close to town is already fully booked. There is another campsite and Stellplatz but they are 3 km out of town.
