Gumotex make some decent stuff, you said Canoe but is that what you really meant? As in Canoe kneeling or sitting with half a paddle or Kayak sitting lower down with a double ended paddle.

I have in my teens done a lot of Canoeing and as a family also about 20yrs ago we are now me late 60,s wife 70and still adventureous (A tamden now is to hard work and even a folding one may be too much trouble in the PVC)
Sitting down in an open canoe for two is what i was thinking would be best all round. Being a coxaine on a life boat i am fully aware of the dangers on the water and off course would be kitted up for safety

When we were in Munich about a fortnight ago, Mrs B-D wanted a quick look in one of the outdoor shops because it had its own indoor pool in the basement to try out kayaks and canoes. (She is a kayak coach so was a bit intrigued). Quite an amazing shop, also with it's own climbing wall so customers could try out climbing shoes and gear too. It put the average Millets or Go Outdoors to shame!

Gumotex appeared to be the brand of choice for inflatables. Some were eye wateringly expensive though.

We have a Gumotex Palava..

this is a great river canoe, you can sit on the seats or on the floor.. use two single paddles or doubles.. whatever you prefer.. we prefer single
On flat open water it is rather slow, and like all inflatables can catch the wind which can make it hard work to paddle against.. exceptionally stable and it can also be paddled solo .
Gumotex are probable the toughest inflatables made.. almost impossible to tear or puncture.. not cheap but hold their value ..

We had a 2 seater Sevlor many years ago, great fun specially when hubby (Manic) got in one side and promptly fell out the other!

Gumotex are excellent kayaks, I have a twist 2 and love it.
Well made, easy to inflate, deflate and dries in half an hour.
Beware some of the cheaper kayaks that use in inner bladder arrangement, they can be extremely difficult to dry properly which is a real consideration if travelling in a motorhome.
There's lots of threads on gumotex if you do a search and Minxy is knowledgeable on them. 👍

We kayak around the salt marshes and in the bays of the North Norfolk coast every year.

Low pressure inflatables are ok, provided the water is flat and there little wind. They're also very slow. As soon as there are any waves, low pressure inflatables really struggle as they get pushed about with the current and any forward momentum gets sapped. You need a lot more energy to go the same distance as a hard hull. They also get caught by the wind really easily. In the shallows and on calm lakes, they are fine. But they get sketchy very quickly when conditions get tougher.

High pressure inflatables with drop-stitched internals make the hull much more stiff and they behave much more similarly to hard hull craft. They also sit lower in the water and you aren't padding over a huge inflated sausage, so they're more comfortable too. But they also cost much more than the low pressure style boats.
