Maybe it’s 3.5kg?
Nope. Definitely 35kg for the pair, I weighed them. Basically they are scissor jacks, very strong piece of kit. Nothing like Alko ones. Fairly easy to remove thankfully. Sadly they were mounted to the main vehicle chassis, and thus rather too far inboard.

2020 models seen to have a simpler type of steady, no doubt lighter.

That's more like it Robert.

Or maybe not.

many many years! since I was a kid
Benimar used to be a bit of a joke with rubbish build quality, but seem to have seriously improved over recent years

I have to say, I really don't like being called a liar. If replying to such a comment is rude then so be it.
I did not call you a liar in any post.

In my first post I was commenting that that figure seemed very heavy, because both sets of rear steadies I have had were much lighter than that.

In my second post you will see that I answered Robert's perfectly polite post because that was the figure I was expecting. After all it is not unusual to miss out a decimal point. After I did that, I then noticed your reply which confirmed that you had weighed yours. So I quoted that as well and said "or maybe not" which means that it looked like Robert and I was wrong, and you had indeed meant 35kg.

Now can you identify from that anything that looks like an accusation of you lying please?

Yeahcome come on. be kind to the newbie. Anyway. There will be other people buying them.....well sometime soon. Was just saying what our experiences were. As I said we loved the van and no regrets. We love our Carado as well though and the fact that there is not a single rattle or squeak. On the downside it's quite basic. The benimar had everything

Sandra, it must be very frustrating for you. When you said you had the damp problem in a new van I really felt for you. Glad to hear that they have agreed to fix it, but must be so annoying that it is now stuck at the dealers for the duration.
Oh! You've not heard the latest. ? And someone must be reading here as the Q of rear steadies has just been asked on the FB page. Answer is 15.2k for the steadies and then the Jack and Handle etc is a further 6.50Kgs, so a Total reduction of circa 21.70Kg.

Looks like I will be having ours removed

Perhaps read back and look again at your post:

"Or maybe not" seems to imply once again that the figure I was quoting was incorrect. i.e.lying

Do the steadies have a separate jack then? The Alko ones we had just need a long winding handle and they dropped down themselves. Mind you they were never intended to actually lift the rear up so the wheels were off the ground, as they were only rated at 500kg.

There were only two very short comments in my post.

My first comment, made before I had read your post saying you had weighed them, agreed with Robert that I thought the figure would be nearer 3.5kg. My second comment, made after I had read and quoted your post saying you had weighed them, then cast doubt on Robert's and my thoughts, hence the words "or maybe not".

I really cannot see how you can possibly suggest that I was accusing you of lying, which I did not and would not do in this, or any other, forum.

I wouldn't waste my breath anymore.

I have no idea, I don't think so. You wind them down ., only know that we won't use them so will be taking them off if we can recoup approx 20kg. You'll be welcome to have a look next time we meet up, wherever, whenever that may be. In the meantime I hope you and Angela are staying safe,

We are both well thank you. Staying at home and avoiding people to keep it that way, like most other people. Hope to see you in a field somewhere when all of this is over.

I’m a newbie
We took delivery of our new Tessoro 494 in March, our second van. First was an Elddis 175, OH wanted a fixed bed . We love the 494 the fixed table was a no no though. We had it taken out and use a removable one. Loads of room in the front dinette now. Build quality is good, gas/electric heating is great. Looking forward to lots of adventures in it, had 3 trips so far.
Hi SteveG we too have purchased the tessoro 494 and like yourself want to remove the table do you mind me asking what table did you replace it with.I have ordered a small rectangular table but not sure if it will fit on the floor space. Thanks

OK
First noticed these at Benicarlo when we drove past the factory in August

A couple of question for those of you who have them

1/ what's the build quality like
2/ are they value for money

is there only one company selling them in the UK

Hope I can get some answers for our search for a nice M/H
Money arrives March so we are relaxed well I am
We started with Benimar 243 , not a bad van and definitely trendy looking. The table is the most over engineered thing I’ve ever seen, like a giant jenga game just to have your cornflakes. Also its made of solid lead ! We took it out and tried to put it loft, required a team of specialist haulage contractors to do it, and a heavy lift helicopter. Bought a hobby table from the range for 20 quid instead.

We looked at the Benimar and the coachbuilt version of the Mobilvetta and both appeared to be reasonably well built but our heart was set on the Aclass, but did not want to pay silly money for one then buy the extras so got the Mobilvetta K Yacht. Same issues with the table, very well made and highly polished but too bulky. Found nice round table at Oleary,s for £50 and it matched the matt cherry woodwork in the A class so it sits on a fold down polished alloy stand we found on Ebay or Amazon. As regards Marquies (Preston) they have been absolutley great with any problems we have had, not many and all minor.

Was a Newbie but getting the hang of it now.
Pity they don’t come with an umbrella.
Mine did, also a branded apron and oven glove.

The steadies appear on our 69 plate 202 appear to be lighter that the 35kg figure, but we will be keeping ours as we don't want the van rocking!!😉😘

I was being sarcastic 😂, we got a brolly with ours.

We have a Lagun table waiting to be put in when we get back home. I think it will work so much better.

Hopefully our damp problem is now behind us. 👍

Ditto here on the sarcasm 😀
We have the electric table and are quite happy with it so far.

Swapping from a Bailey Cartagena Caravan 3 and looking at the 2022 Benimar Tessoro T486 motor home. Certainly ticks all the boxes for Layout and Auto box. Any one on here Experiance any issues with Motorhome quality issues and Ford engine / gearbox?

Caravanned for 30 years, nearly two years in with the motorhome.
Hi, we have the 494 which is now 15 months old with just over 8k miles. So far so good with the build quality, with nothing broken down as yet. Most of the appliances are common across the marques which leaves the actual fabrication/build for comparison, coming from a previous Hymer caravan I'm not dissapointed. After a thorough search in our price band wanting to purchase new it was the Transit that swayed us with the power and delivery. Managing 30mpg which is acceptable considering the shape and weight. Disappointingly though, we are waiting on our third replacement for the sat nav entertainment unit, specific to the motorhome and not Ford. (Keeps resetting when you turn the engine off). Marquis have very little influence with Benimar in my experience. Not sure how well a major claim would play out? . They have sold well here, and you will see lots around.

Thank you for your input. First impressions were pretty impressive to be fair after seeing the total lack of quality on Bailey Autograph MH…
