I'm an oldbie MH number 10
Can anyone help with my heating issue please.
Alde 3020 system.
The previous owner winterised the van as she never used in winter.

I've come to start the heating and can't get it going on either gas or electric.

Things I've done in resolution.
Alde fluid was low- very low so I've topped that up.
System Bled back and front.
Hot water is plentiful.
Pipe at start of heating circuit is roasting hot before dissappearing.
Pump is making a nice sound so that appears to be working or at least not a fuse issue.

The previous owner spoke about a ball or bulb that gets turned off for wintering? Can't find anything?

Its literally as if its just not going round the system, being stopped somewhere.

I've never winterised a van before as we do all year so wonder if I've missed anything.

All the gear, and no idea!
Are you sure the pump is running? Sometimes it makes a noise (like it’s running but isn’t) then it sort of takes off when it DOES go.
Check the pump setting is on 12v

I agree this is worth checking. The pumps is really a motor and pump. the motor can be running turning the "axle" but the impeller is broken or seals blown (by freezing) causing the water just to swirl in the pump..

Press the cog in bottom right corner,
Then arrow down, then arrow down again.
You should see installed accessories, press that, then arrow down again, then you should see this screen

Just check it’s ticked, if not click on the box.👍

I doubt if you have a 240v Paul, I am also guessing but think these may be a magnetic drive so if the impeller was stuck the motor could spin without driving (don't know why it would stick though) might be worth winding the speedright up and see if that kicks it into action, and checking the pump settings like WESTY66 says.

In our previous vans with Alde they are a bit poor at starting up on electric after they have been stood for a long while.

I wonder if there is a valve been shut off somewhere ?

I've just took photos of the manual showing error messages etc but can't upload them, I can email or whattsapp them if you would like?

They are a pig if they need bleeding. Run it full blast and find a steep hill, park uphill, bleed, fill. Park downhill, bleed and fill.

That should exclude airlocks.

Just a thought Paul, but is there an isolation valve low down on one of the pipes leading to/from the header tank?
If isolated, that would prevent a flow and return.

Good luck with it. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

not long enough
We have two control valves on ours, one close to the header tank that controls flow of heating water to front or back, then another controlling underfloor heating

If both of those are closed I don’t think any heating water would circulate

I’m sure when you bleed the system you’re meant to turn the pump up, off the top of my head it sits at 2 for normal running and 5 when bleeding. Might also be worth checking the pump isn’t turn down to 0, not even sure there is a 0 but worth a look 😂

JockandRita DavidG58 genuine question here, if the valves were shut and the hot water in the boiler not circulating, would it not start “kettling“ and shut down? Come to think of it if the pumps not circulating the water with the valves open, it would do the same, don’t ask me how I found out on a cold December morning in Gemany🙄🤬🤬

Two thoughts.... On mine there is a tap to turn the floor heating off near the unit. Secondly, do have a chat with Alde on Monday, I have never dealt with a more helpful company. If you expose the Alde unit and sit with a phone, they really do know their heating unit and will do everything to sort out your problem.

Little red dial at the back of the pump. They come out the factory set at 2 and it can be turned up fully to blow the air out

Thanks Paul, glad you are sorted👍
I don’t intend to go rummaging under the fridge to the boiler unless I have to, as Carthago put it in some awkward places!👍

Ha ha.. the poor thing needs a little love and attention, no one has used the poor girl.
Just glad it's me that's got it otherwise someone would be very disappointed.
Been to TW today as the passenger side window needs attention.. it's got to come out and be replaced.. the new sort rarely go wrong apparently. Of course mine has .. but the two bits of good news are that it's covered under manufacturers warranty and 2 TW don't go anywhere near it as its a bonded window so a specialist glass company come over and do it.
I've got a good few quid to play with before i get anywhere near a dealer price though. So these little things are Sent to try us and its a beautiful van...

Just be careful of the fluid level , fluid level should be at lowest level mark when cold , it needs to be that low , if not the expansion of the water can fill the expansion tank and overflow into the MoHo , the reason I know all this is because when I picked up my brand new MoHo someone at the dealership noticed the low level and topped the tank up , so by the time I driven home the fluid had overflowed all over the cupboard
