The lock has two large pins to work the latch and one has snapped off, i have a new one to collect at a dealer.

This is exactly what we have done and sorted a faulty solenoid operating the door lock. Getting the door stripped down was relatively easy, as described by Sheddy above.Mine has industrial velcro.
With mine I remove the 2 screws holding the grab handle, one screw on the door handle gear. Part remove the rubber door seal on the panel.
I use a small spatula or filler knife to prize apart the velcro sections, I think there are 4 sections. It's a bit of a fiddle getting the door handle mechanism through the panel.
5 times I've removed the panel on ours to change latch springs and the central locking solenoid.
