Does your ZTE device support all of Three's frequencies? I know the Huawei E5377 MiFi has a dozen different variants, some of which don't support the frequencies used by some UK operators. Is the ZTE the same? I think all the UK providers broadcast on multiple bands. So Three might be trying to palm you off on to a less busy band you can't see. Or your phone can use a better band that the MiFi can't.

Sorry Guigsy, I can't answer that, as I haven't a clue, but the ZTE MiFi is working a treat (as before) in a different location now. (y)

The antenna for the Samsung phone is incorporated on the mother board, like this.................

Whereas the Poynting MIMO 3-12-2 in 1 antenna is like this............................

I know which one I would expect to bring in the stronger signal. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I think it's more likely that the ZTE modem doesn't support a frequency that Three uses.

Three use band 32, 1500Mhz. And it looks like your antenna isn't tuned for it. I'm assuming that it'll probably still send some signal through though?

Three doesn't rely on just one frequency band for its mobile network. In fact, it uses quite a few of them, namely the 700MHz, 800MHz, 1400MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 3400MHz, and 3600-4000MHz frequencies.

Here we list the details specifications of ZTE MF971V for general review:

  • Support 4G Band: LTE FDD B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/17/12/20/28 TDD B38/40
  • (FDD 2100/1900/1800/1700/850/2600/900/700/800Mhz TDD 2600/2300Mhz)
  • Carrier Aggregation: 4G LTE band B3+B7 / B3+B3 / B20+B7 / B3+B20 / B7+B20 / B3+B5
  • 3G Band: DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS B1/B2/B5/B8
  • 2G BAND: GSM/GPRS/ED GE
  • WLAN: 802.11 b/g/n/ac, dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz
  • LTE Category 6 download up to 300Mbit/s, upload to 50Mbit/s
  • DC-HSPA+DL (Download) up to 43.2Mbps, UL (Upload) u p to 5.76Mbps

That's me well covered then. ;)

Cheers,

Jock.

My understanding is each mast only uses a couple of bands. 1500MHz is a relatively low frequency, so good for rural areas because it's got good range. If that's the band that the Samsung phone is locking on to, that might be the reason.

I am just being a bit sarcastic Simon a lot of people think the day of satellite TV is dead in the water and to use data for everything including TV great if you can get the data but you still can't guarantee it 😉
The way the footprint keeps shrinking then yes satelite is pointless for most of us.

I've been trying to get an echo dot to work on the move, struggled big time in UK but working perfectly here in France, popit sim, teltonika router and maxview antenna

I don't have a problem with shrinking footprint I have a special box 😉 I know it's not everyone,s cup of tea but does me 📡
