Hi
We are taking the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff and fancy visiting the Dordogne, or somewhere in that vicinity around 8 or 10 hours south of Roscoff. We will stop in a camping de mon village en-route.
We are seeking a site with a pool, (slides not necessary :)) dog friendly and within an easy walk of a village or small town for shops and boozy lunches!
We intend to stay here for 4 or 5 nights (possible renting a lodge or caravan rather than staying in the motor home) and then slowly making our way back to Roscoff via Ile de Rae.
Our first time so any suggestions would be very welcome.
Our van is 8M long and 3850kg.
Thanks

Camping Bastide at saint foy le Grande

Flat short walk into town. Great market on Saturday, overlooking the river Dordogne
Ps: has a small number of statics available

I like Eymet, lovely medieval (Bastide) town on the river. Camping du Chateau is a great municipal site located on the river in the centre of town - no pool though.

If the weather turns for the better on your way back give Roscoff a couple of days itā€™s a surprising nice place
Thanks, our plan is to spend our last night in an hotel in Roscoff, hopefully we can find one where we can park and will accept our dog

If overnight on the site of the station is still allowed save yourself money and stay there itā€™s an easy two minute walk to the seafront šŸ‘

Donā€™t understand why you would not stay in your motorhome?

ā€˜Cos we are away for 16 nights and may fancy a change, then again, we may not.
Nice to have options and avoid cabin fever (ex sailors!)

If youā€™re going to Sarlat please be aware that itā€™s a steep hill down & what appears a bigger one on the way back!
Could try Beaulieu sur dordogne nice site by river & interesting historic village with a few bar/ eateries.

Yes there is a bit of a hill, sorry I forgot about that but it might be an issue for you.

Take a look at Camping Maisonneuve. Really nice camp site near the river with a swimming pool and close to Castelnaud-la-Chapelle Castle.

Another BIG shout for Camping le Capeyrou in Beynac

Pitches right on the banks of the River Dordogne.A boulangerie, butchers and small general store right opposite the site

A fabulous pool and a bar, plus food trucks stop on sites several nights each week. Plus a 10 minute walk into the village where there are quite a few restaurants and other eating places

A really beautiful site, been there several time and loved it every time šŸ˜
