I bought my vehicle in Mar'14 with 9525 miles. It is now at 21094 after having owned it for 18 months and decided to do a service though the service light had come on anyway. I decided to do it myself to make sure it really was done and because it potentially would have been less hassle than taking it to a garage. I haven't done a service on a car for about 20 years.
Bought the parts from DoctorCarParts for £40. Could have got them for about £25 but Doctorcarparts web site convinced me that I needed to spend the extra to get good components. No idea if I was gullible. The oil and fuel filters are both just paper elements that go inside the housing so no way of having dates on them that you would be able to see.
Started with the diesel filter. Couldn't shift the lid. Undid the bolts that held it to the bulkhead but still couldn't shift it. I then used a screwdriver, tapping gentle with a hammer on the ridges of the lid very carefully and this worked. Time taken about 20 minutes.
Next was the air filter. 4 screws hold the lid on and they rust up. 3 came out reasonably easy but forth wouldn't budge. Sprayed it with WD40 and moved on to the oil filter. Time 20 minutes.
Housing for the oil filter comes off with a 27 mm socket with no problem. Sump plug was also no problem. Only pain is obviously dealing with all the old dirty oil. Refilled with Castrol magantec 5/30. Took 1 and a half 4 litre cans so cost about £50 in oil. It was bought from local car shop so maybe could have got cheaper. Time 30 minutes.
Returned to the air filter after being away for the weekend and managed to free the forth screw. Was concerned about rounding the head but managed to avoid it. The shaft of this screw was very rusted and probably only 1/2 the original diameter. I didn't have replacements so have used the originals but covered them in grease and then once installed, the heads have been covered in grease. Time 20 minutes.
Advice here is to regularly remove the screws to stop them seizing.
So in total about 1hr30 and £90.
The old air filter had a date on it which was not the service when I bought the vehicle but the one previous though there should have been any reason to change it at the last service but do wonder what was done at the last service.
The service light still flashes when I start the engine but I don't really notice it and it will go away after 2000 miles/km's so I don't care and not willing to pay Peugeot to turn it off.
Also wish I had known the service light is the red oil can warning light before it had decided to come on as it scared the life out of me as I was in the middle of nowhere in Ireland thinking my engine was stuffed.
