On our way to Istria for the first time, unsure whether or not to book in advance for campsites. Does anyone know how full they are this time of year? Thinking of Novigrad first, perhaps Camping Serina.

Any help, gratefully received:D

We never booked any sites and have not had any problems all the sites we have stayed on are acsi, the most popular site was camping Krk very nice site and walk along the coastal path into town but we still got on, down towards Split at the moment the site fairly busy but still lots of empty pitches. (y) Bob.

That's much appreciated Bob. Did you do any campsites on Istria you'd recommend, before you got to Krk?

We stayed at ACSI 1191 CampingIN Pineta, Umag. Nice site and good snorkelling. :D We liked it but it was quiet, which was good, but it will be getting busier. Umag itself was lovely too. Found quite a few sites are doing refits and gearing up for the season ahead so were not inclined to stay at some we saw....ended up heading on around out of Istria.
Just been to Krka Falls today, much nearer to Split, well worth a visit. (y) Bob.

Stayed a several ACSI sites there did not need to book any of them

We're in Croatia at the moment at Sibernik, heading towards Zadar tomorrow, then the Istrian peninsula a week or so later. Fellow travellers we met a few days ago in Slovenia are in Camping Krk and reported that all the ACSI pitches were full so they had to pay extra for a better, non-discounted pitch near the sea. We'll be up that way soon and will update when we get there. In the meantime, if you're hoping to use ACSI on your travels, it might be prudent to book a slot now.

Thanks Bob we like quiet sites and snorkelling, will look that up. Have an underwater camera, was there much to see?

Went on to see how much Camping Serina was at Novigrad . . . 345 euros for a week on their website. Seemed steep.

What's the weather like Falcon, boiling here but it'll rain soon no doubt?

Thought ACSI discounts wound down in June anyway. More worried about availability. Arriving about June 6th and hoping that Istria isn't too crowded. Look forward to hearing your update if you find any good sites. Many thanks.

ACSI rates do wind down from early June onwards but several sites we're heading for continue discounts until mid-June or later.

Weather-wise, rain yesterday but mostly sunny and warm today. Supposed to be continueing to improve from here onwards. :)

We should be around Pula around 6 June and will update here on what we find on our way north.

Thanks. How do know which ones continue discounts?

We re in Croatia at present.

We havent booked anything ( and didnt last time), we did pay extra at camping KRK for a better pitch and we wanted two together. I wouldnt get fixated on Acsi, some of the autocamps are the same if not cheaper this time of year particularly if you re not needing electric.

If you get into July or August though it changes dramatically; pricey, no Acsi and rammed.

True about ACSI fixation. We're on a super little CL-type site about 5kms out of Sibenik called Auto Camp Sani. CamperContact # 53284. Beautifully kept by Christina and her husband, who couldn't be more welcoming and helpful. Bus to Sibenik just 300mtrs from site, 15 mins ride for 1.50 euro. Highly recommend this site at 15 euros per night, all inclusive. :)

I wouldn't bother booking this time of year, we went last September sites were virtually empty, agree about ASCI only saved a few Euro over 3 weeks. A lot of the sites aren' t ASCI but give you 10% off if you have a Camping Card.
We didn't like the fact that it was no cheaper if you don't want EHU, normally we don't use EHU or sites. A few of the small Autocamps were cheaper without EHU but not many.

You from sunny Shrewsbury? So are we!!
Hoping to go to Camping Krk, heard good things about it. This is our first long motorhome trip. Don't know how you guys manage without hook up. We obviously need solar panels.

Thanks. Just looked at it, Brodarica. Beach 250m. Great stuff. Keep em coming. Much appreciated.

Highly recommend Autocamp Martin campercontact 10067 about 20 km south of Zardar only takes about 25 vans but right on the waters edge and the ice cream van comes around every day and so does the lady selling fruit and veg.

Yes Shrewsbury, sorry hadn't noticed.

Camping krk is big and posh, on a lovely spot on the beach with fan views, but it was also the busiest with queues to book in and out and and a lot of families ,

We re currently on a 15 van autocamp 3 metres from the sea.

Solar is no brainer so many more options.

We are on camping Krk for the week. We arrived yesterday and there was only one pitch they could fit us onto. 8.67 metres. We have a good size pitch close to reception. The ones down by the water are very cramped and saw some struggling to get on. We came here from Novigrad Sirena. We were going to stay at Novigrad for a week but there was some kind of music festival going on across the water and all we could hear was the thump thump thump of base all day and night. It was driving us nuts.

We are at Camping Rozac near Trogir, we cycled into Trogir yesterday what ever way you go it's steep up and down but well worth the effort, ;) or we could have just took the van off site and parked in the car park. Bob.

How much did you pay for Sirena. Tried to book in advance but they wanted 345 euros for a week booking on line, which we thought was steep. 50 euros was a reservation fee. Is it worth it (assuming the noise stops:eek:)?
Krk is our next planned stop after Novigrad, sounds busy already:)

Think it was 54 euros for the 2 nights. We took one of the nicer pitches just back from the sea. Nice site

Hi, we re heading there today from Camping Boric, Zadar. Been told its really nice, might see you there? Sounds like get the scooter out for Trogir?

Anyone considering Camping Boric should be aware that they are not honouring ACSI, although will give 10% discount of 210-230 hrk. Its next to nice beach but quite scruffy, cycling to Zadar is OK but coming back is a bit of a trial because of one way system and quality of driving.

For anyone reading from far, weather has been glorious, one bit of rain last wednesday pm but apart from that around mid twenties and sunny, with some warm breeze.

Jon

Hi Jon, we left there last night after a ding doing  stay away from the end of the site because a load of Slovenian school children are in the cabins the teaches are drinking all day and the kids are running wild, we complained because they were running all over pitch around the motorhomes and a few others and playing football in the road with the ball hitting vehicles. the site say they can't stop the children playing and at one point there was 4 balls  so that would have been night 3 we payed 1 and a half days and left, :boxing: before we got upset.

But yes Trogir is very nice and at times a scooter is good. (y) Bob.

We have been on Camping Krk all weekend. It was busy this weekend but much quieter today - plenty of pitches available where we are - a brilliant clean site & the 30min walk to Krk along the footpath is full of lovely coves and a few bars. krk town is lovely

Are you still on the site ? Was it you that hubby was speaking to at the gate on Saturday ?

Heading to Camping Krk tomorrow from Klimno on the other side of the island. Pre-booked on Sunday to be sure of getting an ACSI pitch.

We stayed at Camping Zaton over the last weekend as our base for visiting Zadar. Bus to Zadar from Nin costs about 3 euros return. Be careful on the return trip if you don't get on at the main bus depot (about 10 mins walk from the old city walls) because the bus doesn't follow the same route out of the city as it does going in!

Nin is about 30 mins walk from Camping Zeton and is utterly delightful - a must visit destination, IMHO.

Camping Zeton is huge but we thought it was great - at this time of year. 50 mtrs from the beach for 19 euros per night. Fantastic facilities.

That's half the price of the Internet site. Thanks for that, will definitely wait. Was there much shade there?

Still looking around Strasbourg but can't wait to get there.:)

Thanks. Did you book Krk on the Internet or by phone. Cheers.
