Backpack to hold thetford cassette. (1 Viewer)

Anyone recommend a backpack that can fit a bog cassette in (min. 46x32x25) ? You can;'t just enter those dimensions into amazon et al, it seems.

I'm guessing you can't just carry them into a motorway service station ...

edit - ok, found some wheelie cases. Is that more or less suspicious than a backpack?

Doesn't the concept of "sneaking it in" sort of pre-suppose that you shouldn't be doing it?

I use a 50 litre military patrol burgan. Cassette fits perfectly inside, neatly packed in a plastic bag

I often use Operation Dump The Dumps, clean, safe, hygienic and leads to some great stories as folk in the next cubicle listen to 17 litres of dumps being dumped

Here's what we use, from a previous thread. Never had a problem stealth dumping, even with a cleaning attendant in the area. I always leave the toilet cleaner before leaving.

There's even room in the bag for a two litre flat container for rinsing out the cassette. The bag is from Argos.

Why assume that the cassette is always going to be full to the max? If my modus operandi was stealth dumping, I would take every opportunity to offload as I travelled around rather than wait until 'full' .... I would also have a spare cassette (which I have) and wouldn't wait until I got to my 'port of call' before preparing my stealth bomber ....

I have never dumped a cassette in a public toilet however I have used motorway service toilets for their intended purpose and I don't think dumping a cassette could make them smell worse than they usually do.

and we wonder why, people in Motorhomes get a bad reputation for being selfish?

I have never done it and would never think of emptying my cassette down a toilet that some poor soul, perhaps desperately because there is no other empty cubicle, has to use.

IF you are not using chemicals, (there are plenty of 'green' products out there) What's wrong in carrying a small spade, finding a layby and disposing of it in the woods and helping nature?

Better still, do what I do when not already staying on a campsite, and every few days, spend a few quid and help the local economy, by staying on a Campsite (and it doesn't have to be the most expensive!)
If campsites are not your thing, just because you have paid for the night, emptied all your cassettes (you have to find space for a unhygienic large bag, so you must have space for a second cassette) and filled up with fresh water. you do not have to stay or go to the expense of buying a large stealth bag.

I have a question for you frequent users, because all the cubicles I have been in do not have this facility, how/where do you rinse you cassette after emptying it or do you wait until you return to your MH and use your own precision water?
Somehow, I can't see you doing that?

I'm new to all of this, so I have no strong views either way, but to be clear ...

I would always favour paying for somewhere to dump my waste of either colour. I've posted other threads to this effect. I'm not looking for a freebie.

My situation is entirely hypothetical as I've started to stay in pub carparks and the like, where loos are locked at night so the cassette gets used.

I recently stayed somewhere where there were no club sites and no open campsites (where I assumed facilities might be available). C&MC won't let you just use facilities anyway, even for a fee. Anyway, it wasn't a problem but I started to think about what one does, and an awful lot of threads on here suggest people use public loos.

I couldn't see an issue using a motorway services toilet so long as I wasn't damaging anything by doing so. But it really would be a least resort, and I hope I never have to.

Why? There are thousands of proper places, near enough every Aire has a black waste place and even loads of motorway services have them , just why do you feel the need and as to putting a cassette in a bag is way out of my thinking, there will always be some sort of drips no matter how careful you are and how do you wash it out, do you stand at the sink with it while lorry drivers are cleaning their teeth at the side of you?

I suspect if you ask first you will always be told no, but do you think the smell left behind is fair? Also very hard to dispense without some spillage, that’s why elsan points are usually so wide

Certainly would if you wheeled a cassette straight in as is! but we are talking here of being discreet. There is no harm in doing it, not that I have to be fair. I usually will plan round places that will allow dumping, there's a few free ones about, there's a few you have to pay for, I used Auctertyre near Kyle of Lochalsh only a couple of days ago £5 bargain as I have 2 cassettes. Also, only this week saw a thread here on fun about the CCC allowing this facility in SOME of their sites so now I'm aware of that it helps.
I've never used a loo to dump my cassettes except at home, and now I actually lift the sewer lid in my back garden instead.

I would use a service station if desperate, with no guilt, it's a toilet, its very purpose is to swallow you number 1's and 2's. I don't get why anyone would get prissy about it.

My tips? Have a second cassette, literally probably one of the top 5 things I've bought for the motorhome. Also, for the males, handy to have a seperate pee bottle for volume.

I've used a bag loads of times. In fact, I have one of those 'stowabag" that pack down to the size of a paperback permanently stored to the left of my cassette box. Not used it for a year or two, But it got used a fair bit, especially back in the day when there were 5 of us in the van, so it filled quick. Never left any mess at all.

Can someone explain if it's normal practice for people to empty their waste down a normal toilet on site, when theres an actual waste point that could be used? my impression was they couldnt be ar**d to walk or move their vans to the disposal area, so every morning dumped it in the normal...

Just some of the reasons why motorhoming in the UK is too much like hard work and we head across the water whenever we can.

there are as many CLs and small independent camp sites in the UK as there are aires in France.. all have full facilities .. and hundreds of free dumping points without using public toilets ..

the only hard work involved (for some) is opening the wallet...

I also love France but it's not better than the UK.. just different..

I believe that Gloucester Services on the M5 has a sustainable system for dealing with waste so the water ends up feeding into a pond. I wouldn't want any toilet chemicals contaminating the lovely pond behind the restaurant, and possibly harming the wildlife.

We have 2 cassettes and the carry bag is there for the extremely rare occasions we stay longer in one place and there‘s no black waste disposal, so far this has happened once in now 14yrs with a camper.

Be discrete, don‘t use chemicals and leave the place better than you found it.

I don‘t think anyone plans to take this approach but some people like to be prepared, and often with 4 ladies on board i need to be very prepared
